Back in 2019 there was a similar scenario. After the Jockey was injured at Bechers on first circuit in 2018, Bechers was waved off on the second circuit. In 2019 the fences were much flimsier, they were kicked apart and Horses only fell and unseated at 3 Fences 1, 19 and 27. Last year the Animal righters invaded the course and there were a lot of fallers at the Early Fences. It is obvious this Years fences, as in 2019 were very Flimsy and the Horses just kicked them apart. As in 2019 only 3 fences Claimed unseated riders, fence 1, fence 15 the chair ( 2 went) and fence 27. The fences were more robust in 2021, 22, and 23 and were proper nationals. This Time alas Its doubtful they will make them better constructed ever again. And with the smaller fields its gonna be an ordinary race Just fences that are flimsy and safe. Bechers brook in particular is a travesty, the most iconic and testing fence , is now as Safe as a Hurdle. They obviously modified it further for 2019 . There were no Fallers at Bechers brook in the last 5 Nationals, in fact only Two unseated in the foxhunters one in 2019 and one in 2023, no others. The Officials have turned their back on Racing Fans and pandered to the Antis......😡😞

Was trying to think what it reminded me of ,but a lot of people have said it in the comments, like the Cheltenham cross country race but less quirky fences.

You know when your lucks out when you back an assured good jumper and he unseats his jockey at rhe first. I was confident he had every chance of winning again if held up a bit longer than last year.

More punters would have backed the winner of Willie Mullins had not said on tv Thursday that it wasnt his best chance, including me, i should have listened to AP who tipped the winner , raging i am.

Willie knew it was a grade 1 horse and jp had big money down on it not because it was fav / his best chance or the fact he had 4 horses in it its he knew what would happen 😅 all the best willie u will give them a run for there money 😅

Notice how 2 of the first 4 all should have raced in the cross country at Cheltenham but it was waterlogged if it went ahead the horses might have been too tired to run

The Grand National was once the World's most famous horse race, it will now be in the history books. They have bowed to pressure and gone too far, I will watch it if I have nothing better to do but only that

1st 4 places 155 to 159 ORD bottom weight 146. In 5 yrs there will less than15lbs between top and bottom weight. No not for me, it will become a benefit race for the Irish and owners who can' t compete with the Arabs & Coolmore on flat so would rather become big fish in a smaller pond. Remedy owners and trainers only two runners, then more competion and a proper hamdicap.

I love all the comments from people saying the fences are too small now etc. Clearly they have never sat on a horse let alone galloped down to a fence that size surrounded by 31 others.....all those critics might think differently if they had to jump them!

This is no longer the race we grew up with and grew to love . It’s now just a cross country race at aintree ❤ Absolutely ruined . ❤❤

The race has gone soft to many changes not the same anymore suit's the favorites hadicaper was a bit harsh on a few of theae runners

Pathetic spectacle IMO. it was no longer the Grand National I knew,the mammoth test for horse and jockey. Looked more like the cross country race at Cheltenham.. Think my Border Collie could have jumped Becher's Brook.

Nothing happened it was the most boring Grand National ever. The fences are so small now they don't even matter.

Wokery has reached the horse racing world 😢 You know the saying Go woke, Go Broke. Anyway the National has now turned into just another race. The fences are more like hurdles, no excitement, too many mediocre horses, Awful commentators. It's just another nail in the wokification of our country. Truely awful.

This national was a joke. 40 runners gone for good. Beechers and the Chair easy to jump. No horse went 20 clear like in past years A useless bunch of jockeys Idiots like Luck - no fallers. Roll on the flat Frankie 25/1 winner Saturday night. 😀

Just like watching cartoon racing at the bookies... but with less drama and fewer mistakes - RIP Grand National
