Tonight, we have a town hall sponsored by The Urban League of Greater Kansas City. And we are talking about Racism in the Kansas City Police Department: Addressing the Black and Blue Divide.
We have folks from this community here to talk about the discrimination issues within the Kansas City Police Department. Just yesterday, two black female officers filed a lawsuit against the Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners for discrimination against their race and gender.
We'll also discuss why there is a push for a Department of Justice Investigation and a need for local control.
We aren't here just to talk about the problems. We want to find the solutions for reimagining public safety and building community trust.

However, we must be careful not to aid in these folkkk’s agenda, to demonize/stain a prominent tool proven to aid in changes. If this wasn't so, why would those same folkkk, covertly impose legislation to neutralize, if not eradicate the use of peaceful protesting for a specific group of Citizens? We’ve always used marching/protesting as an assistant tool. Failure comes when we don’t execute with diligence in unison. I truly believe. As before we’ll get it together and claim triumph, once again.

The older folks in the audience are behaving in a highly disparaging fashion in response to nearly every point the young man is attempting to speak to, particularly, when Mr. Martin rebuffs or challenges his statements. The young man is speaking to the issues appropriately. Understandably, he is not as old or seasoned as Mr. Roland in organizing or in the political arena. However, taking points were relevant. Their disposition toward him really makes me wonder the real reason we are not winning. Keep speaking young man! You spoke well and will continue to hone your skills! We are proud of you!

Roland talked about this how one organization can make up for the issues other organizations are weaker on. A coalition of diverse organizations working together in order to reach the goal. His example was the NRA. I think Roland got it right that having hope to have the votes isn't a winning strategy. Obviously this is too complex to boil it down to one reason or other.

There were also times when Roland said he agreed with him and so did Dr. Carr. We just have to come together with the youth and elders, and I swear when that happens things could/would be achievable.

@@essencetaylor5956 Perhaps that is true. I tuned out after I saw the grotesque behavior. Dr. Carr's commentary was supportive of the young man's position. The issue I called out surpasses coming together. They came together and in coming together, they seemingly, at Mr. Roland Martin's word, "Amen'ed and that's right'ed " so hard that it really showcased how easily BP can be manipulated and how decisive many are within their own groups. This has been happening within the black community sense before The Good Ship Jesus arrived and people still have not learned. Any significant and lasting change always starts within.

If he were your History teacher, you would only get black victimization stories and nothing on how blacks were successful despite slavery, Jim Crow Laws, and detrimental policies of the Democratic Party. Martin is not a historian, but rather a race baiter. If you to become knowledgeable about blacks, read books by legitimate authors such as Thomas Sowell, Booker T. Washington, Carol Swain, and Shelby. Who all conclude that blacks can not be legislated, and don’t need to be cuddled by whites. Rather, we should have an opportunity to fail so that can rise and be responsible, respectful, and a asset to America.

This was an awesome event. I wish our young folks of today would sit down and realize all the people who fought and risked their lives for the freedoms that they have today. Color people are still not free to the ability that they should be because the Crazy Karen's, Mr. 45 and people like them of the world continue to try to suppress them. Whenever I wonder why racism exists to the level it does, I watch this channel and Roland Martin. He fuels the racisn and it is so sad. There are people, white people, im sure that are racist people. I also think there are black people, like Roland Martin, that hate white people. That said, I believe that most people aren't hateful people and want everyone to succeed, be happy, and be contributing members of society. I would love to see people that aren't playing the race or gender card at every moment and BE. BE BLESSED BE HAPPY. Live your life and stop waiting to be validated. Here is the problem people have not factor in that these Department Agency are CAGE code entities Commercial and Government Entities, this means that they operate in 2 capacity private and public, Public Justice and Private Law enforcement. So not only do they get money from the Public Tax Payers, as well as private corporations like, the Home Association, Walmart, the Department of Motor Vehicles, Target or etc. who fund them to carryout it's private law affairs.

Being 'done' with voting is the very reason we have the problems with the common & tolerated racism within the ranks of KCPD, as well as every segment of society. We can't continue to ignore our responsibility to vote - in every local, state, and federal election - whether there are issues that personally affect us or those issues that could never possibly affect us. We can't be satisfied with voting to only "Get mine," we must vote in favor of each others' moral interests - local, state, and federal. And when what we vote for doesn't happen or takes almost forever to happen, that shouldn't lead to being done with voting, because it only results in increased numbers of crooked politicians (mostly GOP professional liars) who are working relentlessly throughout the country (Missouri included) to diminish, restrict, and eliminate our rights to vote, due to millions of people's refusal to vote (a.k.a. "being done with it"). We must continue to acquaint ourselves with issues and those running for office, then vote when the polls are open, regardless of how hard the GOP works to take away our rights.

I love Roland Martin! However, he is somewhat incorrect about the NRA not looking at race when supporting the 2nd Amendment. See their stance on the Mulford Act (1967).
