i got a quote for 220 on the rack and pinion and 250 for installation but this vid makes it look easy so i might just tackle this job myself and save myself 250 lol 😂

I too installed a Detroit axle steering rack. Unfortunately the gray paint they use does not last. Next time I will for sure paint it.

Great video!!!! I removed the cover for the lines and was met with serious rust on fittings. Tried loosening fittings and the lines twisted till they broke off. Lines are discontinued. What can I purchase to repair the good part of lines to connect a new fitting to? I'm not sure of fitting and thread size for each fitting. Any help will be appreciated.

Is the line/hose that the 17mm bolt is connected to a power steering return line? Trying to find a replacement and can only find the high pressure one

hmm....the two bolts (drivers side) that hold the rack to the frame.... the bolts easily slip in and out??? Its like maybe the nuts that were welded to the other side of the metal broke off....dang...what to do now....

That could be a catastrophe. Almost like a subframe swap needed at that time then…

Question 🙋‍♂️ the rack and pinion what is the lines they have I would like to know if the rack and pinion have powers steering lines for the fluid obviously but rack and pinion have transmission line too?

I don't believe there is a transmission line running into/out of the rack and pinion steering assembly.

@@randomrebuilds you can help me if you know where you think my power steering fluid it’s coming and going thru to the transmission I been having this issue for a while trying to figure it out and then the transmission have a area where it throws out all the fluid when over flooded some people tells me was the speed sensor but I’m trying to continue doing research

Going to estimate removal was 3 hours and reinstall was 4.

I know this was posted over a year ago but do u still have ur accord?? I have a few questions, like what all I can remove from the engine bay (cruise control, a/c ect.) I am working on my steering rack now. I did the entire suspension and the shop said they could allign it cause the rack was bad. I have a mint 91ex and really don't wanna let this car go. Its sat for a year now so it needs a bit but it's worth it

Its still being worked on at the moment. I would get a rebuilt steering rack and have that installed. Do not give up on your CB7. Things do wear out but if you saw how cheap and flimsy 2020+ cars are being built, they won't last very long.

What else do I need to remove on the left side to allow the shaft to go into the hole to connect to the stering ??

You will need to push the rack pinion as far to the right and its a tight fit to get it in the subframe area while pushing the steering shaft up into the body of the car.

What did you do with the line that went between the left/right steering boots? I’m doing the same job currently. The Detroit axle came with the line zip tied to the axle, but I’m hesitant to tighten the rack to the car with the line being pinched between. Thanks.

I think I just left it alone and bolted it into position.

Well after struggling with trying to reattach the old line for 1/2 an hour I’m inclined to go that direction haha
