Another dope video. Just swung my racket a few times in my living room this way and it feels great. I can’t wait to try it out on the court in the next couple of days. I already know this is going to help me tons. Thanks a lot. May you win nearly all your matches!

Thank you for the video 🙏 On of the hardest things in tennis for me to learn was the correct wrist movement. It was already hard to relax my wrist at the forhand swing. And even harder for the backhand. After watching this video and recreating the shadow swing in front of a mirror really helped. I can create so much more spin now

thanks for that tip... push down on the racquet with my left arm before I swing up with a pull from the right arm/push from the left arm as the arms uncoil.. will have to view a couple of times and thanks for the drill suggestion also!

I like the approach. Aside from the usual take away fundamentals, it makes you think of push/pull, rather than a bunch of mechanical points that you can’t possibly think of in an actual swing.

I felt different sensation doing the flip of racquet. Watching novak slow motion, his motion is more like a nike swoosh, up-down-up+forward. Executing this on the court resulted a tame shot with no power. Then i tried to make the same nike swoosh, but this time forcefully flipping the racquet back and down then continue with up+forward motion. The result was great.

Great video, just tried to shadow hit, what I am missing is what is the right grip on the racquet for this technique? The swing feels fine but as the racquet approaches the ball strike point it feels unruly as if there's zero control of the racquet face. That's what prevents me from being 'loose' with it. It gets even worse as the racquet head moves past the ball strike point. Unless I actively control the racquet face, it's all over the place. That requires more grip on the racquet handle and that kills all lag and snap.

Should I be shifting my weight and loading my right leg (rightie) before pulling the racquet down or at the same time as pulling the racquet down? Thank you in advance.

Good video! The primary engine is the hips and legs and the arms just transmit the power. After a player gets the correct arm movements, they have to go back to the hips and getting the arms to follow the hips. I see many upper-body 2HBH. Not pretty.

i thin this is at parts ambigous. What is the top arm, when u say: Pro tip "Pull with the hitting arm, then push with the top arm" ? The non-hitting arm becomes the top arm after contact point. Thanx for clarification

Does practicing left handed forehands help with backhand?
@RacquetFlex
@RacquetFlex 4 жыл бұрын
Great question! Although you don't want to hit your actual shot like a left-handed forehand, it is very helpful to practice a "classic-style" left-handed forehand to practice the contact & extension.

The use of your legs in this video is likely more critical to proper backhand technique. The movement, transfer of weight from the back foot to the front foot and hitting off the front foot at contact point sets you up for success. Likely the most overlooked component of generating power and consistency in all shots regardless of technique.

You lost me at elastic energy. The human body doesn't store significant amounts of elastic energy. Especially not when you coil your body. During your stroke your tendons will store elastic energy and release it afterwords immediately.

so in the end you say "keep your top arm loose and pull with a bottom hand" and in the beggining you said "push with your top arm more, its not forehand from the backhand side". Really really difficult video even for a college level player to understand.
