Outlaw Garage are in Sydney again, this time with Ron Goodman and his radial engine Porsche 356 Outlaw with Nitrous. If you're wanting to modify a Porsche or looking for a guide or hints and tips then this is the video for you. This was an abandoned 1960 Porsche 356 B T5 originally from the USA. It's probably easier to note what hasn't been modified but Ron gives us the complete tour and guide to modifying and upgrading a Porsche 356 and some of the great upgrades and custom work on this race car.
Fitted with a radial engine this Porsche sounds like an aeroplane taking off and the NOS blowoff is just the final perfect touch. An amazing morning with Ron, thanks, this is an amazing piece of Porsche racing art.

Incredible build quality. I’d have a round wooden steering wheel with the buttons on a panel but it’s otherwise a drool-fest.

That would have to be a 2-stroke. Radial cylinders are usually 4-stroke, so they're odd numbered because they fire every other cylinder, so that this engine firing order is: 1-3-2-1-3-2.... On a 7-cylinder radial it works out to: 1-3-5-7-2-4-6. An even number of cylinders would end up repeating either the odd or even cylinders only, so a 6-cylinder radial would fire: 1-3-5-1-3-5... or 2-4-6-2-4-6.... I guess another option would be to fire all the cylinders on one rotation and rest them all for the second, but that would be a sub-optimal way to do it.

What a amazing build and I love all the Mods you have done. 200 H/P is not enough, I know nothing about that motor, But a subaru motor without Nitrous and a turbo would of doubled your horsepower , Why ?

Much harder to fit in a 356 and this 3 cylinder motor is a little different and unique. A subi motor with a turbo would be super quick!

A work of Art that can be driven. Radials (round engines) typically are "torque engines" of low RPM, wondering where the power band and red line are? This car should be shown to display the craftsmanship and not driven. Back in the early 60's while in high school (So. California) was confronted with the choice between a 53 Carrera (removable hard top) with a huge Stuttgart emblem on each side, or a 58 Austin Healey. Went with the Healey, Oh well!!!

I believe Porsche is the only company that customizers still use the first model! The 356! All other companies' first model look outdated.

Some incredible engineering! I really winder how well the engine will be cooled. Having had a 356, several beetles, And now a Bus, I know that the original engines had to be sealed up well underneath because the air under the car tries to come up into the engine compartment due to the body contours , over heating the engine( I dont think those new vents will do much). Also, would like to know more about the suspension and tranny: original? Modified, new? Swing arm, A arms, what?

Transmission was stock except for a strengthen 1st gear, not sure of the ratios. Suspension was also stock.

I simply don't get it. While radial engines have a nice power-to-weight ratio it does not make that much sense to water cool those. There could be done something like an active diffusor combined with a vent sucking the air from under the car creating a ground effect. There were planes with more active cooling on the radial like a FW190. But when you decide to hassle with water cooling, why don't you pick up something with a even better power to weight ration. Why settle with only 200hp? Something like a wankel from an RX7 or one of those high reving bike engines ( BMW S1000RR, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R. Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP or the like). Those can be additionally turboed, which does not make that much sense on a bike but would with a car. - But the work was simply amazing. This thing is more a piece of art an proof of "we can do it".

a whole lot of money spent for no reason,fantastic work but to much overkill,radial engine only makes 200 hp so does t1 bug !!!!!!!

Its a different kind of power and the torque is amazing. We have a bug Type 1 motor in our 356 but this is next level
