In the spring of 1999, more than 300 depleted uranium bombs were dropped on the Lustica peninsula during NATO bombings. Over the next three years, a special commission was created, which measured the radiation background in the territories subjected to bombing, their decontamination and subsequent disposal of radioactive waste.
Today there is a fashionable resort Lustica Bay and one of the best beaches in Montenegro - Zhanitsa. In coastal waters where depleted uranium bombs fell, thousands of people swim every year.
I decided to conduct my own investigation of the current situation with the radiation contamination of Lustica and went to the places that had been bombed.
