UCSF Mission Bay, Radiation treatment for prostate cancer. Receiving laser radiation in the prostate bed and lymph nodes. Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator. I lay down on a contoured mold that was made of my body, then they position me so that two tattoos on my hips and one on my abdomen line up with three laser crosses. I am then scanned to see if my bladder is full and intestine is out of the way. A high pitch noise can be heard during the treatment which is painless.

I to had 25 sessions of radiation, the nauseousness the weight loss loss of appetite the exhaustion , it's not pretty , anyone going through cancer I pray for you all to get well soon

Hi, just got the all clear couple weeks ago for p.c. here in Cork city,Ireland. No problems at all with the radiation therapy,but the decapeptyl injections were something else. After each monthly injection into the stomach,i was painfully sore for a week afterwards. Bending down to get into the car,etc, was agonizing. After 8 months of this,I phoned the hospital. They then changed the jabs from my stomach to my backside.....no pain whatsoever. The lesson? You dont have to put up with suffering after injections

Just finished my own SBRT series a month ago (Huntsman Cancer Hospital). Interesting to see the differences (minor) between procedures and equipment. Hope your recovery is going well and the outcome is everything you need.

I had a similar procedure done in 2000 and a year later things went south. The radiation destroyed my prostate, bladder and large intestine. In 2009 I had an Indiana pouch operation were they remove the prostate, bladder, cut a piece of your large intestine to make you a fake bladder and reconnect it to the kidneys. Radiation was the worst choice offered by the doctors Removal via a laparoscopic operation is the fastest way to recover

I've already had a Radical Prostactomy. My PSA was 54 and it had spread to my lymph nodes. The Therapy is to get rid of it in the prostate bed and the nodes. I have bladder control and no real side effects after 30 treatments. Six more to go.

I got lucky i had 14 sessions of radiation 1 minute each visit so i didnt get the burns or nausea it was down near my bladder n lympnoids are on my right side.

Is this the same as Proton Beam that is used in Loma Linda with great success and no side effects to speak of?

I’m on my 14th treatment with 12 more to go. The side effects so far is the worst part. Hopefully the side effect slowly go away after my last treatment. Then it’s just blood work to monitor my PSA and other things. Hopefully my bladder and bowels start to work like normal. It’s a 2 year process with the adt. Since I’m stage 3C, I’m told they should be able to give me 5 years

@@jrmdhmasterhard to control my bladder and bowels along very low energy and the treatment. My Dr added 2 more treatments which disappointed me greatly. Now I have 10 more to go as of 10-26

@@kenb.9976 Good luck with everything. I prepared for my treatment by doing three-hundred, fifteen second kegels per day for six months. During the treatment period I've been doing one-hundred to one-fifty.

Do stage 1 or 2 prostrate cancer requires radiation if yes what it is

I don't know all of the treatment options. You should try to contact an oncologist online or in your area for advise. You could also start with a urologist. Good luck.
