Radiator repair for $80 - C63 AMG W204

Progressive coolant leak on my 2012 W204 Mercedes C63 getting worse and worse till it got to a point where I would have to carry a spare container of coolant around.
Thought it would be a simple fix by just replacing the drain bung but turned out to be the complete side plastic housing that needed to be replaced.
Initially I got a quote of $900 for a new radiator and that is without installation costs ontop of that, found a specialized radiator repair shop that were able to replace the side housing for only $80.
As you may have noticed I replaced the blue Mercedes coolant with Pink Toyota coolant, this is due to the pink coolant crystalizing and forming a sort of visual seal once a leak arises and thus making it easier to spot, this is what ive used : amzn.to/3T8zODK

Wish me luck. Mine also has radiator coolant leak. I am taking things apart to find what the issue is today

I am stuck sliding the radiator in. Taking it out was hell people. I don’t advise anyone doing this yourself. Give the job to someone else that will go through the struggle

Many thanks for this. In the middle of this job now and probably would’ve given up getting that radiator out if I hadn’t seen this. I don’t think I’ve ever had a more difficult time freeing a part from a car. Was it as bad going back in as coming out?

Hi Craig, glad to here it. I struggled as well and never thought it would be that difficult without taking the complete front end off. Putting it back in was relatively straight forward, you got this 🙏🏼

Interesting, but as someone mentioned it's too bad that it is impossible to find only the side plastic housing.

I’ll do my best to get a part number of some sort from the shop that did it, it’s crazy how expensive a new radiator is and this is a much more cost effective option

hello, thank you for the video. I am French and I also need to replace the radiator on my C63. So if I understand correctly, it is possible to remove the radiator without removing the condenser? thanks again.

Correct, I did not want to remove all the ac gas, so I managed to remove it separately, it wasn’t the nicest easiest work but it is possible

@@burgerbuilds Thank you for the answer ! Same for me, I would like to avoid draining the air conditioning gas. But in the official Mercedes procedure it is compulsory to remove the condenser. Thanks again, I'll try to do like you.

Where did u get the plastic repair bro I never knew they can change the plastic, my radiator burst on the plastic I already bought and installed the new one on my car but still have the old one, what’s the name of the repair shop u had yours done at

Sorry for the late response, luckily we have radiator specific repair shops here in the UAE, so I brought it to one of them and they replaced it. I used to also keep buying new radiators until I realized you can replace the side housing, save a lot of money
