aT 1:20 lmao.... we had five Taurii in the family and I worked on every one of them at least one time. The aformentioned bolt is exactly as you described. I had to use two short extentions and a universal to get at it. PITA indeed. The video is vgood, but lighting at parts is wanting. All in all, I would give you a 98!

THANK YOU ... this seems to be hard-to-find information ( the radiator cooling lines ) .. really appreciate you doing this video .... ; )
Getting the car mounted properly on jack stands is the most important thing. Next, those transmission lines, and that hose on the top driverside will be your next challenge. After you get pass that, AC condenser screws ×4 , and it will come down out the way, remove the screws for radiator bracket on both sides, and radiator will be ready to slide out.

Have a 2013 and am not looking forward to this job if it’s this much on an older model. Can’t imagine what it’s like now

It does seem like every repair on a Taurus is harder than it should be.

Wow,,,,what a poor design. Engineers should have to repair the junk they create a few times. I bet all that complicated design would stop.

Was it necessary to remove the fans?
@JeffsAuto3 жыл бұрын
I am not sure if it is necessary to remove the fans, but certainly easier to work with the extra room.

Same concept as a 05 Montego?
@JeffsAuto4 жыл бұрын
Most radiators come out the top, but, I have not worked on an 05 Montego. But, yes, it should be same basic process.

I have an 02 Taurus. Very good car but the engineers at Ford need their asses kicked. They must be high when they design these cars. Crazy. The heater core design is another horror story.

What a total pain-in-the-ass job. I dread doing my son's '03 Taurus. It's overheating and blows steam right at the upper radiator hose connection to the radiator. Maybe the water pump is shot? (another torturous job) After working on cars for 48 years, I've never seen this happen before. (just installed new thermostat & upper hose)
@JeffsAuto5 жыл бұрын
Normally, if it is a plugged radiator, it takes a while to over heat - maybe 20-30 minutes in traffic. In other words, after while, it just can"t keep up. If you just replaced the thermostat recently, there could be air in the system still, or it could be sticking closed. It is very common for a new thermostat to stick, especially if it is after market one. Those yellow bleeder buckets are pretty good at getting the air out. And you can check to see if the the thermostat opens by feeling the temp of the hose. If you have a code reader, that is best, so you can check to see if it is opening at exactly the right temperature. Once all that looks good, be sure to check for bubbles, since you have had some over-heating, be sure to check for bubbles in the bleeder bucket, Tauras"s do blow head gaskets sometimes.

I have a 1994 taurus. Much easier. Slides right out the top and not connected to the air conditioning radiator.
