the most useful and reliable way to build up vocabulary in chinese. keep on in this series but it would be rather more helpful if you explain the meaning of other auxiliary radicles and characters that join the main radicle to build the new final meaning.

The other radicals usually aren't that important when studying this way though. The vast majority of characters are made up of a phonetic part and a meaning part. The phonetic part is only used for sound, so e.g. 想 (used here for think, miss) 相 (mutual) 箱 (box, case) all have the same phonetic part (xiang). This is the biggest clue when reading chinese if you can speak the language, as you'll then be able to guess how to read it. The meaning part provides context so you know which of these words it actually is, so: 想 (miss, related to heart) 相 (mutual=basic meaning of radical) 箱 (box, the one with bamboo). You'll probably actually learn the base radical much later in a lot of cases, because often these characters are much frequently used. But being able to recognise that they are similar and may be pronounced the same is very helpful.

Emotions are not thoughts, although there are very often thoughts associated with emotions. Emotions are very largely physical and endocrinal reactions to situations, the words only arriving as decorations after the event. Very interesting, probably useful, vocabulary. Thank you!

Hello,, Very beautiful lesson 1) what is radical mean ? 2) what is radical use for ,and when we use it.? 3) how do we know the radical character in the word ? 4)what is radical use for? 5) in the example in this lesson if we take out the heart from the word did the other character will have another meaning ? Thank you

hello Khaled,good question. the answer is, the radical itself is a character too, it means heart. and was used to form other characters, and they all have something to do with feelings, emotions, thoughts, which ancient people thought were all from heart. And it's not our decision to put or take out the radical from other characters. the characters were all created by ancient people, now we just need to study them and use them. 😊🍡🍡

Fascinating! Can you explain at 8:08 the word 惡 with tone 4, why does it change to tone 3 when combine with 心?
@yiminchinese
@yiminchinese 3 жыл бұрын
good question, I was hesitating to choose which tone to put, because the character 恶 has two pronunciations, the most well known one, is fourth tone, so I put it in that way. and in the word 恶心it's pronounced the third tone.

@@lijun5464 明白了。我只是开玩笑。 这就是我添加 :-) 的原因。People should note that 激进分子 means "radical" in terms of an extremist or fanatical person. Not in terms of a Chinese written character. :-)
