#CARF #Ultra Flash #Kingtech A LONG Thorough how to video on Radio Programing a Jet Start to Finish. This outline could be used for a jet or any aircraft. The fundamentals of radio programing would be similar.
In this video the aircraft is a Composite ARF CARF Ultra Flash. The Radio used in the video is a JR/Deeforce 28X with a JR RG1131BPU Reciever. There is a Power Box 3Extra Igyro which we cover the setup in depth. The landing gear and retracts are from ELECTRON using a RS200 controller. The power is provided by a Kingtech 160G2 turbine engine. Servos are Xbus JR/DeeForce 8411 Servos although we are not running them on Xbus.

ITS A LONG ONE! BUT it's packed full of information as we program the aircraft start to finish. Let me know if you have any questions. As per usual, there are many ways to accomplish the same outcome. This is my way.

Excellent video! So as I understood correctly you don’t change your travel adjustment to set throws and use DR for that and you don’t use couple settings for setting high or low rates.
@thelightersideofrc
@thelightersideofrc 8 ай бұрын
On this radio yes. Now with Jeti I will set my mechanical maximum on the servo adjustment menu under servo max travel and then typically adjust with flight modes.
@PiotrGulczi
@PiotrGulczi 8 ай бұрын
@@thelightersideofrc Thanks, so you use flight modes with different throws, trimms etc. I have never used them yet. Instead Im still using separate switch for DR/Expo, turning on/off gyro. Can you tell something about your goal in setting up those flight modes?
@thelightersideofrc
@thelightersideofrc 8 ай бұрын
@@PiotrGulczi well. I’ll try to keep it simple. If you want to discuss further. Please email me. So with Jeti flight modes makes more sense with the programming especially when you get into more technical planes. I don’t fly with different rates on a rate switch for jets. But flight modes yes. So flight modes in its basic form is tied to the flap switch. But better referred to as the flight mode switch. So 3 positions switch. No flaps. Take off flaps and landing flaps tied to those flight modes. Flap travel changes. Elevator compensation maybe. Different trim values. Gyro gain goes up with flaps deployed. Etc.

Great video...!!!! Question for ya when you set up hyro you said it takes some expiration out of the different functions? So o have a flight mode to where theres gyro settings for take off flaps landing flaps and just flying. And expo on each so when I hit different flight modes with flaps the gyro pulls some expo out?
@thelightersideofrc
@thelightersideofrc 4 жыл бұрын
when the Igyro is active it add's more expo. I have my flaps on one switch and gyro on/off on another switch. That gyro happens to be setup as my flight mode switch as well. It's not totally necessary to have the reduction in expo setup when the gyro is on but you can definitely feel the difference between gyro off and on if the radio expo setting is the same. Make sense? does that answer your questions.

Excellent video Jonathan. From your video, I discovered that I may not have set up my flaps properly. I will have to re-check and measure. I have found mixing brakes slaved to down elevator works really well for me. At the field sometime, I need to ask you about gyro rate mode vs heading hold mode. I have not done any experimenting with heading hold. Let us know when you are going out to the air strip. Thanks.

Thanks Randy! Yea, i think it's about a 50/50 split in North America with people using down elevator or a switch/slider. I saw a question or poll on RCUniverse and it seemed like it was a 50/50 split, Ish. One of the reason's I don't like the down (forward) elevator idea is it can unweight the main wheels on some airplanes. As an example my CARF Tutor. With the stock hockey puck type wheels and straight struts it will already skate down an asphalt runway and if you add forward elevator it gets worse (ive tried😉). So that's one of the primary reasons I like to use a switch. but what ever your used too is good. I do have a new set of struts and wheels for the tutor that need to be installed soon. There will be a video on that which will help the performance on the runways. Yea for sure! Next time we are out i'll show you the difference and it will make more sense after that.

I use the slider to set brakes at half during gear pass. I land, and then finish braking with the forward elevator stick

Great video, really interesting.....1 hour 5 minutes flew by with the help of a couple of bottles of beer to aid concentration. One question, to start the turbine do you go to trim up then advance the throttle? I'm assuming here that the whining noise when you did that on the video was the starter running up?
@thelightersideofrc
@thelightersideofrc 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ian! Yes you trim up to the setting you programmed it to. So in my case full trim. Yes that was the starter engaging. With Kingtech’ you can manually cool down the engine by doing that. So if you were to hold the throttle stick at full it would keep the starter running. Not something you want to do but just explaining it.

Hello, I'm really new to all of this and would like to know how all the tech and components work so I could modify the plane however I want it to be. For example change the controller and have another input if that's even possible. Do you know any book or video that you or someone else made that goes through the hardware in great detail so I would feel more confident buying a kingtech? As I said I'm really new to this so it might not have made any sense but help would be really appreciated, thx!

Hello Seebbe. I don't fully understand your question but basically all the controls are managed by the radio sending signals to the receiver. Most receivers on new transmitters are very adaptable to number of channels and channel assignment. It's very versatile. I don't know of any books or such as there is so many different equipment manufactures that covering all of them would be impossible.

If you were to buy a radio today, between 28X and IX20, in new condition which would you prefer, and why? Thanks

Between those 2 I would pick the 28X. I won't fly my turbine aircraft with spektrum.

Apologies if I missed it, but in relation to the gyro, what is it that you call green vs red conditions? I've never used a gyro in a plane before but am preparing to on a giant scale.
@thelightersideofrc
@thelightersideofrc 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeremy. It's going to depend on the Gyro your using so keep that in mind. With Powerbox, green is normal mode. So surface will react and move back to center. Red mode is Hold mode so if you keep lifting the wing tip the surface will keep moving as it's trying to bring the wing back to where it started.
