The only Radio Shacks I ever went to went at the other extreme...the shelves were wrong, the employees ignored everyone, and the prices were outrageous. I think toward the end, the stores were trying to dispel the "give us your life's story so we can upsell you to a full sound system even though you came in for a battery" attitude, so the workers gave no fucks. Still, at one point this was the only place you could buy certain things...like 200 ft of coaxial cable to steal the next door neighbor's signal. Good times!

When you would buy a battery they would want a detailed biography of your life.
