Man he was such a nice guy. When I was in my early 20s he came to my country (South Africa) to play a huge festival for Coca Cola. Loads of major acts which had never been there before (or since). I got to attend the press conference and during the Q & A there was this guy who had won a competition through a local radio station. The prize was he got to attend the press conference and ask Chris Cornell a question. This dude was so shook and when it was his turn to talk he gave Chris a long story about how he loved him and he thanked him and graciously asked him to sign his guitar. Chris did it on the spot, then asked if the guy had been playing for long. Dude was like "yeah man, I learned all your songs" etc. Chris asked him if he knew how to play "Like a Stone". Dude then felt a bit more confident and said "absolutely". Chris on the spot told the dude that he can play with him on stage and gave him backstage passes the whole shebang! Madness. Needless to say, the concert itself was hella emotional. 2.5hr set. Dude was introduced on stage by the man himself for Like a Stone. Chris really knew what kind of happiness he brought to people. This dude's life was changed forever from something so simple and kind.

He internalized his demons and hide them from all. His kindness towards others was his truth. He was an artist above all. He has touched my life with his poetry and kindness in ways I can't articulate in words. My heart hurts for his mother and children. My heart hurts for Eddie. My heart hurts for all who suffer in this World. He was kind. Remember him and honor his life with kindness towards others. I think he would approve.

Yeah, but with depression it’s easy to become stuck in a moment. Things, even small things that wouldn’t normally tip somebody over the edge can almost certainly tip someone with chronic depression over the edge. Plus you can develop a sort of tunnel vision where you can only see things a certain way. Thinking becomes distorted and in that moment you can totally believe that your family and friends would be better off without you. It’s a horrible illness to have to deal with and so many suffer alone. I just hope that Chris has finally found peace.❤️🌹

@@JeremiahB444idk, I understand where you guys are coming from but I just discovered Soundgarden and Chris Cornell through them, I always kind of heard that music or especially “you know my name” but just recently I discovered the endless amount of beautiful music this guy made. He definitely put it out there for people to hear after he’s gone. For a lot of people this is how you discover him, nothing wrong with getting into someone after they died. I have a sense it was definitely the prescription drug that caused it , & most likely was an accident....I don't know, I've never done Ativan (Adivan?) - so I can't really say if it would have overpowered his emotions so strongly that suicide would be something one would do on the drop of a dime . However, I have seen people act very, very messed up on prescription meds (for depression/anxiety etc..) it can be very, very creepy - they are NOT themselves. So, in that sense, I blame the drug, the doctor & the pharmaceutical company - but these things are usually ruled "death by misadventure" .

@@tammyrogne1471 yes he did. He had the signs. A lifetime of drug abuse kept him alive all this time by numbing and giving him relief from his own mind. When he stopped the drugs he was forced to face the cold difficult world he had been avoiding all his life. He is a gentle soul. The world can be too much. Depressed people are always looking for smtn meaningful to do to lift him up and to keep your mind busy and focused on smtn. The lack of eye contact is a tell tale sign of depression and low self esteem. I think he was under constant pressure to remain sober and heavily scrutinized by people who didnt understand what he was going thru. The pressure of disappointing people can be a lot to deal with. He just couldnt take it anymore.

@@felipec.5403 Unfortunately, it seems someone deleted that other comment I had made with additional details. I'm not sure why. I had also posted a similar comment on a separate video that shows part 1 of this same interview (it has many fewer views than this second part... I believe this one became more popular because of the more detailed title) and the comment was deleted there as well. The date was April 4, 2009. I had won a contest with the radio station which involved submitting interview questions in advance so that they could review them beforehand and select one person. If you search for the name of the radio station and chris cornell, you can find part 1. It does add some helpful context, as this second part breaks in abruptly and you don't really understand what led up to it. Hope this helps! And, thanks so much for the kinds words. It was surreal and amazing for sure!

Perhaps but I think what Chris said was him parroting what his wife, family and possibly therapist have told him in his dark times. Chances are he always was suicidal and depressed and the meds he was on sparked a episode he couldn't fight out of. Just listen to his music, he mentions suicide, hanging and depression throughout his career. What he did had been on his mind since the early 80's.

Herbert King, deep within each one of us lies psychic abilities. It's part of our human nature. If your instincts and your gut told you that he regretted what happened and felt trapped. You're not alone. I've pretty much been feeling the same thing. If he did kill himself he definitely didn't mean to. I do believe there is definitely more to the story than we know. we may never know the actual truth of what happened and why it happened but we need to always remember what he did for us and what he left behind. Even with his passing I believe his story is not yet finished...

Unfortunately, having everything does not make you immune to mental illness or any other affliction that also affects people who don't have everything. Depression is pervasive and non-discriminatory. It can affect anyone regardless of age, gender, race, or social status. That's why the saying "money can't buy happiness" will always be circulating around. It's the truth.

I mean, the guy was so down to earth that he would just talk to you all day long about whatever. That is, before one of his handlers would arrive on the scene and rip him away from you. You can ask anyone in Seattle and they'll tell you the same thing. Except, that is, those disc jockeys from the local radio stations who were purposely putting out misinfo right after he supposedly died.

Lavador Sizemore I respect your views, and sincerity. However, as a former "born again" God fearing man, now being Theistic Agnostic, and taking a step outside of "religion" I see more Clearly... what life is!! I believe in ME! Not arrogantly, but I have put accountability for the success or lack of on myself. Again, I'm Agnostic, not Atheist. Huge difference. I don't believe, however I dont just close off the idea of God. I respect Christ as well as Christians like you who share the gospel without condemnation. I have zero respect for Christians who deny their faith in front of others, or get pissed of you don't believe THEIR ways. Same with Atheists. Many of them do the same thing. Anyway, I hope you've found happiness in your faith, but always keep an open mind. Thank you

Terry Headley Agnosticism is a statement that one does not have knowledge or satisfactory proof a “god”, whereas atheism is the lack of _belief_ in any deity, not the denial of the existence of a “god.” In other words agnosticism and atheism address different concepts. One can be an agnostic _and_ an atheist (or as I prefer, “non-theist” as the term doesn’t have the same baggage as “atheist”) simultaneously. Not trying to lecture or hector you, just trying to share information. Peace.

So if Chris knew and understood the consequences, why would he off himself? This doesn’t make sense. He was either murdered or someone told him to off himself or else his family would suffer. It’s one or the other. Chris did not commit suicide. I’m still mourning his loss to this day.

i think he is murdered too, but this is definetely not an argument. so sorry to say. But I know someone who killed himself (he actually DID) and he loved his son. His son is a friend of mine and told me the whole story. he had 2 more sons with another wife but he left EVERYTHING for him only. He was 90% of the dedication in his death letter, the guy fucking loved his son. So just saying, the world goes way more beyond that argument you were stating about why he didn't commited suicide. I do think Chris is killed by something else or someone else than just himself or depression or drugs, let's make that clear

I was just scrolling through the comments to see if anyone else picked up on it...HAHA Chris Cornell (Real name Christopher John Boyle) Changed his name to Chris Cornell in order to be accepted into the masonic cult that runs pretty much all entertainment and politics Chris Cornell- CC= 33 in numerology Hidden in plain sight...I had noticed that the most recent pictures of CC looked rather odd, maybe plastic surgery?? but CC didn't seem like a very vain man... I started watching old 90's footage with CC and I noticed how much different he looked back when he was young. His lips and eyes were much different than the interviews I saw when he started Audioslave. If you go and look his top lip became strangely paper thin and his eyes got smaller and turned crystal blue. As he has aged, and since coming back to Soundgarden, you can tell that he is the same person in Audioslave, but older...Since 2015 his look has become drastically different. In fact, when I first heard the news of his death, the most recent pictures of him had me doing a complete double take...To the point where I started comparing google images and I realized that something wasn't right here I am a huge Soundgarden and Audioslave fan... I haven't really kept up on him since the Audioslave days but now I find myself (along with many others) listening to his newer work and really enjoying it. So Im not here to bash CC or anything like that...But there is something seriously weird about this whole thing and when I clicked this Interview, I was intentionally looking for some clues... And right off the bat he just unloads the truth....If you notice he never laughs, not even once...just a smug grin and a tiny hint of sarcasm...The only person who nervously starts to laugh is the rookie interviewer...Awkward as hell, and oh how they love to mock you right in front of your face!!! LOL SMH Shout out out RussianVids...Check out his channel sometime ;) Peace

Its insane! There are a few signals going on. Remember the video "Blow up the outside world"? Thats MK Ultra at its best; and have u heard outshined lyrics? (Awesome song btw) but particularly strange; Black Hole Sun lyrics are suspicious also; CC made many references on his songs to snakes and butterflies, in Black Hole Sun's video the girl who is tanning has reptil tounge; there's also one song "Get on the snake" it says Get on the snake where u never will believe, my heart is bleeding, Im dying to leave, Get on the snake, with a suicide machine. ¿? Of course his songs can have different interpretations, but If he was a suicidal, he could've done it like 20 years ago when his addiction was fucked up. In every song you can see references about... but I found them more as creepy, controled messages than actually suicidal, like Alice in Chains' for example. I dont know, everything is very weird, but I just share my clues with u guys, hope we can know what really happened. Still such a terrible lost.

Ok from what I think happened hearing that Martin Kristen went up to his room to fix his Apple TV. Who is trying to fix their T.V. minutes before hanging themselves? I think Martin man handled him choked him out and staged the scene after that Martin went back to his room or wherever waited for the call from Vicky and started to kick down the door and explained himself to the hotel workers in a state of panic and worry some for Cornell. After that Vicky gets Chris's money and Martin gets a cut as well. From this interview it seems that he would never leave his children behind. Nobody will ever know exactly kinda like Cobain.

Actually, that's EXACTLY what it is. Suicude, like homicide, typically IS a last second decion. Suicide, typically happens after build up of (insert issues here), and commonly, when coupled with Drugs and or alcohol, builds up, and your judgement is clouded, your thoughts are obscured and you see no other way out. Typically anyway, sadly, yes it is a last second decision. Which is why suicide negotiators will get the potential victim to take time, and THINK , get your mind off of the shit that's wrenching at your gut. Same with someone who takes a hostage to kill. Hope that made sense to you

Chris cornell was not depressed. he was not murdered and he did not relapse(of this i can't be sure of and i think we should support Vicky Cornell in her search for the truth of what happened). But in my opinion Chris was most likely in a psychosis when he killed himself. Chris Cornell had a torn shoulder from a biking injury. he fell off his bike a little while before his death. He couldn't sleep well if at all for months because of the pain. That's why he was on the prescription meds. you top that with a long tour and you're in a mess. A lack of sleep alone can put a person in to a psychosis. chris was under extreme circumstances. Touring with a torn shoulder with a lack of sleep night after night giving his all on stage. nobody could take that kind of beating for long. Sleep is so essential to our well being. a few days we can handle. but when you don't sleep for weeks or months, nobody is able to take that without consequence. I've been in a psychosis and all it took was a few nights without proper sleep to fall in to one. it can happen to anyone. Now the Ativan may have played a role(probably did), and even too much coffee could have(everything ads up), but the main reason was lack of sleep and extreme fatigue and stress induced psychosis. chris's downfall was he was an over achiever and a perfectionist. He didn't take a brake when he should have. Soundgarden should have never gone on tour with chris's state of health 🙁
@withmygoodeyeclosed
@withmygoodeyeclosed 5 жыл бұрын
This makes sense instead of the conspiracy theories. Question remains though; did Chris willingly go on tour with his injury, or was there push from the labels? I suppose the first because one of the conditions on which Soundgarden reunited was that they could do everything on their own terms without record companies bossing them around. He DID sound really great on that last tour (check the fort Myers gig). I guess he really was a workaholic and didn't know his limits, but the label thing should not be overlooked IMO. However i do think he relapsed and his doctor should be looked into, you don't prescribe someone addictive drugs when he/she has had a substance abuse problem earlier in their lives. This doesn't make me think any less of Chris, we're all human and we all have our weaknesses. Like you said, everything probably just added up to 1 terrible moment. Still amazing what he gave to the world, his music is ours to listen to forever. R.I.P.
@asmorai6663
@asmorai6663 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, OP. This is what I have concluded with Chris' unfortunate and early departure. A LOT of stress on tour and away from home, away from family and kids who he loved so much, lack of sleep, pain in his shoulders and back and he took too many Ativans and caffeine. (Ativan should never be prescribed for pain alone... He must have also been prescribed it for an anxiety disorder as well which I personally do not believe Ativan was the best that DR put him on for a recovering addict. Ativan is pretty strong. Clonazepam has less or fewer adverse side effects and largely considered the safest benzo. It's a little easier to get off of too) ***So it's already been reported that in a 7-9 day period he took more than half of his Ativan prescription. He Took 50 pills in a 9 day period....*** his wife said he was slurring his words and kept repeating "theres ringing in my head....this ringing in my head. I'm tired. Just tired" etc. Repetitive speech and slurring, and ringing in the ears/head are a few symptoms of the substance induced psychosis syndrome. (It can also be a withdrawal symptom.) But Add all the above up and his prior depression issues and whatever was going on in his life and head at the time -can and -*-will-* likely result in a substance induced psychosis. It is a very real condition. Look it up "Substance induced psychosis" It is so easy to forget how many meds you've taken in a matter of couple of hours and eventually in a matter of minutes. I've personally experienced this and have tried to kill myself. With Ativan. I had been on it for 7 years for panic disorder and eventually it backfired on me and caused adverse reactions/side effects including suicidal ideation/ thoughts and depression and slowed me down. It's a central nervous depressant too. Luckily, I survived obviously. Some people claim to do way more than that and they say "but but but I was fine when I took xyz amount did this and that blablabla".... E-v-e-r-y-o-n-e is different and reacts differently on certain substances and it doesn't take much for people who become sensitive to a substance. Adverse reactions can happen AT ANY TIME AT ANY POINT... It really fucks with your head and thinking! I believe unfortunately that this happened to him. I wish I could have warned him or someone close to him had I'd known them! Because right when i first saw his music video for "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart" in 2015 and his photo shoots for " This is Chris Cornell", I instantly knew something was very wrong with him and I knew that he wasn't feeling good at all on the inside...There were warning signs years prior to 2017... even I, as a simpleton fan of his for years my entire life. I knew he needed help... I don't know the whole truth in everything that happened or anything really but just my opinion. R.I.P Sweet Chris. Loved and missed, dearly...

People that still think that Chris was murdered...come on, he spoke about death constantly, look at the opening of this video, in other interviews where he speaks about the Grunge scene and the deaths over the years, his songs are all about death, a lot his idols even committed suicide like Sylvia Plath, Ian Kevin Curtis who even shares the same date death as Chris, he even said at one of his gigs that years ago he considered suicide but lucky enough hes still here. This guy has toyed with the idea for years, personally I don't think he could even bare the thought of getting old too, Chris was quite a vain person and one of the reasons why Hiro Yamamoto said he left the band was because he couldn't bare Chris taking his shirt off at every single gig they done. With Chris who always fantasized about death and the thought of getting old I personally think it all just all got too much for him, because lets be honest, he did have that iconic look like James Dean, Monroe etc, I thought he was gonna commit suicide back in 97, I'm amazed he lastest as long as he did.

@S M I personally don't think his wife had anything directly to do with his death, what I do think though that she knew Chris was mentally a vulnerable man and deliberately drove Chris nuts to then maybe commit suicide, I can believe that, in an interview with Rolling Stones magazine back in 1999 Chris admitted to a habit - “Something I’ve done since I was a kid- of opening windows and imagining what it would be like to jump" He's toyed with the thought of suicide for years and I wasn't really shocked that he had finally called it a day.
