Yes. In addition to the Pandemic, half of my town burned down in September and I lost everything. As soon as I found a place to live, bought an Echo, and my first music request was Radiohead. They kept my soul from dying of fear and loneliness.

I had stopped listening to Radiohead, thinking I had outgrown them or that they were remnants from another life I had lived, and then I woke up with them in my head and played the songs I had loved. Every single time I listen to Pyramid Song, it repells me back to the time and situation, where I sat on the carpet in my room, devouring Amnesiac for the very first time. Keeping in mind, the radiohead were able to re-perform their studio recordings in the live arena, these songs had their own life on the stage and are still developing each performance, yet remain faithful to the original studio impression. I appreciate their ongoing exploration of their musical themes because as a fan I don’t matter to them as artists. If the radiohead succumbed to creative decisions based on previous sales and weight of likes vs dislikes we would have a dozen albums of “creep” rewrites performed by wind-up radiohead facsimiles.

I have listened to them both so many times, often on a loop, that at this point they aren’t really just songs anymore. Idk how to explain it without sounding pretentious af but they’re boh much more to me than just some songs on an album or even just a favourite song. It’s just so much more.

Fun fact: These songs were the first written by Yorke on his new piano. Both heavily use keyboards, were written in the same week, are the most well known from each album, and have extremely similar chord progressions. They are parallels to one another; just like their parent albums Kid A and Amnesiac are. Coincidence? I think not.

To have a favorite RH song is an overstatement... because there are favorites of mine that aren't even similar to each other, to name a few, these two... weird fishes, videotape, the tourist, knives out, go slowly, no surprises, daydreaming, reckoner, you and whose army idioteque.... Some of them are similar, but some of them are different in many ways. Idioteque is much more different than no surprises just because of the style of music... whereas everything in its right place is much different than knives out, and all of these are much different than creep, which is also a favorite too lol But the ones I mentioned above I do listen more than others, all though all RH songs are songs I must bow down to either way, hence making a RH song being a favorite would act as an overstatement...

Thanks for posting this total masterpiece. Love this type of Radiohead sound and also other electronica/experimental albums from the likes of Massive Attack, Tricky, Atoms For Peace, Portishead, Unkle, Amon Tobin, Allflaws

And it's crazy to think that the album was just the rejects from Kid A... So many incredible songs that they didn't think were good enough for Kid A

Saw Awolnation at BBK festival and we were the only ones leaving just as Radiohead was about to start!?! Later heard Aaron saying what a fan of Radiohead he is. Now hearing this years later I am thinking there’s a bit more to them than creep. What the hell did we miss out on!! Oh my god...On the other hand I am listening to this stuff for the first time right now, some compensation. Beautiful.

What effect did EIIRP have on those listening ears who experienced Radiohead's discography sequentially? To turn on Kid A and experience...such a departure from the guitar-led rock of OKC to this venerable lightness and pulsating, echoing melancholy... and realize, perhaps, that this group had become something of an increased profundity, a new era of music they could grow with instead of grow out of... if that was you, tell us how you felt and experienced this. And also, Pyramid Song is one of the greatest tracks ever.

Certain albums, like OK Computer and In Rainbows, are best appreciated with company, to remark about how amazing it is. Some songs, like Pyramid Song, Exit Music, and Motion Picture Soundtrack, are best listened to alone, as you feel your soul being pulled out and flushed from its pain. Sometimes it’s easier to do this alone :)

how can...who can...conceive of music like this - beautifully, uniquely 'off' in timing and sounds, contributing to the soulful lyrics - without some otherwordly [or deeply inner] connection, conversation? [btw, reminiscent of bowie's 'blackstar']
