2 + 2 = 5 is just outstanding as an opener to the album, & this song coming right afterwards was the PERFECT placement. It just exudes “track two” energy to me, like the band is saying: “this is ‘Hail To The Thief’ so get ready.” amazing project

Thank you. Me and a band mate were doing these harmonies casually, (during a practice break) and he kept wondering why he was leading me astray. (he knew the song better than me) I now know it was because of this skipped bar. I have written out the entire structure of it, in case we attempt to do it again. There is something very human-yet-poetic in the sequence.

Instead of "the raindrops," I've always heard "arrange us," which seems to make more sense with the title of the song. It always made me think of going to Catholic mass when I was younger and how the priest would command us to sit or to stand at various times, to which all the people in the pews would obey, sitting or standing in unison. To me, the song reads as a commentary on the tendency of people to blindly obey authority figures, even if they're being told to "walk into the jaws of hell." Not only do people obey authority blindly, but we seem to crave that kind of leadership, as if we're chanting "arrange us" over and over, hoping someone will come along and give us some direction and thereby lend meaning to our lives.

The "And the rain drops" line kinda sounds like "The Uranium drops" if you're listening for it, and given the theme of the song and album it makes contextual sense. If that was intentional, that's absolutely nuts

"I was listening to a lot of political programs on BBC Radio 4. I found myself - during that mad caffeine rush in the morning, as I was in the kitchen giving my son his breakfast - writing down little nonsense phrases, those Orwellian euphemisms that [the British and American governments] are so fond of. They became the background of the record. The emotional context of those words had been taken away. What I was doing was stealing it back." (Thom Yorke, Rolling Stone (2003))

Knowledge is an experience, and most of the things they say will be taken conceptually inless you experience reality for yourself. You will gain your own understanding of a common truth and the song will resonate with it.

Bro, totally not a song where you can say, "that drop". Were not listening to whatever horrible garbage Dubstep you're listening to at the moment. Don't get me wrong, I like some EDM, more like Future Beats and Future Bass and Wobble Bass but Radiohead is way ahead and will always be way ahead then those artists that you yell about "that drop" that just twist knobs

It reminds me of the time I was in a taxi in my way home, and I had my headphones on, that day on the terminal drivers carried many people that shared a destination, and due to a mistake I shared the car with an old lady whose Colony name was the same as my street, so the driver decided to her first, and this song played when I was near Norte 59, and the fast part started when I was near Arena Ciudad de México, the sight was sublime as the song fitted the cold night while we crossed the border between the crowded GAM and the industrial area, near the place where the woman lived, in a desolate avenue surrounded with great cellars and deposits, numerous workshops and corporative buildings, somehow similar to the video I really love when the shuffle playlist throws the right songs in the right moment, it makes me feel as if life had a great soundtrack...
