Nice quick look. I bought this radio specifically for surface FPV, plenty of channels to control the vehicle, and enough left to control a gimble. The built in FPV display+DVR+cable ports is what sets this system apart from almost everything else. It is not a replacement for my 4PM, just fills a different roll. They do have nano rx available. I got a 6 pack of R4FGMs for less than a $100( about $17 each) They do have an antenna, they claim to still have 400 meters of range, and they are gyro equipped. The gyro is going to be nice in some of my rowdy 3s micro builds.

Nice to hear your opinion on the RC8X, I'm looking at buying one of these radios for my bashers and speedrun cars like my XO-1 since i don't have a radio for it yet and i really like all the features of it especially the gyro. If you're wondering i already own a Futaba 4PM original and so does my dad i just want something with more features, a gyro and great range but looking pro on a budget the RC8X certainly fits very well i can't wait to get mine next month.

Nice review though a basic one. The worry I had about this radio was with the latency/speed/response or however people choose to describe it and it appears it's in a range not to my personal liking so I'd never use it as a main radio. What I do appreciate is the extras this radio brings to the table compared to others as well as Radiolinks proven range capability. However for me, the overall size, speed and programmable features (servo frequency for example) of the Noble Pro will keep me locked into it for the foreseeable future.

They absolutely do have micro Rx's for these, all backwards compatible. I run my Orlandoo's with my RC6GS. Throttle response on my RC6 is better than the Futaba 4PL that I replaced with it. Way more responsive than a buddies Spectrum 5ch. I would take the RC6 racing any day. This thing, RC8X, is a wet dream to those of us that run everything from 5th scale to 35th. If it wasn't so close to X-mas, and grocery prices weren't through the roof, I'd already have one on the way.

Update February 9,2023, my radiolink RC8X connection problem happen when my transmitter is right beside the receiver (r8fg) 8 inch or less, you can still control steering but tx and receiver voltage displayed on my radio drop to null, and fluctuating signals. This will be a issue if you happen to be calibrating your car, at the beginning i assumed it would be the esc i am using, i test hobbywing 1080, tamiya esc, castle sidewinder and hobbywing xr10 all have same have the same signal dropout at very close proximity with the receivers, i am assuming either software issue or more likely hardware😬, i would suggest you guys with RC8X do your own testing, to avoid RC mishaps

Hi, sir. This is after-sales of RadioLink products. Thank you for your support. The problem is caused by signal block. RC8X comes with RadioLink R8FG receive, with two antennas. There is signal amplification in R8FG, so too close distance between the tranamitter and receiver will cause signal block even though the binding is finished. If the transmitter and R8FG receiver are too close, it is easy to cause signal block, and the binding cannot be successful. After the binding is successful, if transmitter and R8FG receiver are too close (for example, within 50 centimeters), the signal may be lost. Bring the transmitter and R8FG receiver farther apart, the signal loss will disappear automatically. So please do not keep R8FG receiver and transmitter too close when binding or operating the model. Sorry we did not let more people know about it. Actually we are planning take some tutorials on "signal block". We have already finished one video. Here is the video for your reference: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sK6jZJic2p3Lk30.html Hope it will be helpful for you to know what happened.

Thank you for the video and I agree about the lack of micro receivers with jst-zh connectors (for 1:28 stuff). I use a rc4gs and r4fgm but the big jr connectors are clunky at that kind of scale. I imagine it'd not be that difficult for Radiolink to sell one and compete with nb4 there.

Thanks for the review! Considering the RC8X is using the same protocol and receivers as the RC6GS/RC4GS the RC8X response is slower than the Noble NB4 and other high end radios. So it isn't just in your head! RC8X and NB4 are great radios but aren't for competitive racers.

@robbryan3044
@robbryan3044 Жыл бұрын
This seems like an excellent Tx for use with speedrun vehicles, especially considering the DSC port, and compatibility with CrossLink. Unfortunately...and, this will be considered a HUGE problem by some (including myself)...there doesn't appear to be ANY information related to actually using DSC/CrossLink. Their website mentions CrossLink ability, and they even show a photo of a CrossLink attached to the front of the Tx...but, there is NO other info to be found. The website has NO info, and the manual has NO info. I even emailed them about this, and asked for info...and, they NEVER BOTHERED to reply. I don't care how great a product might be...but, if they can't be bothered to include ALL info in the manual, and, even worse, of they refuse to respond to inquiries related to that much-needed info (ie. INCREDIBLY POOR customer service), then maybe it's a product not worth considering.

@@jameswright5572 I'm not going to agree, or disagree. All I'll say is, it sure would be nice...and helpful. However, Radiolink isn't the only Tx manufacturer to have released a trigger-style Tx with a Crossfire-compatible DSC port. Another manufacturer also has one (technically, two, as they have a recent 'new' V3, and an 'old' V2, both with DSC ports), yet they never released a "proper" tutorial video. On top of that, I don't recall any KZfaqrs uploading any, either. I contacted both companies for info (preferably, for directions). While the other company did apply, the information they provided was somewhat minimal, and not of any real help. Radiolink, on the other hand, didn't even bother to respond...to me, that's very poor customer service.

@@jameswright5572 I found the video you were referring to. Unfortunately, the process described in the video is incorrect, as neither the RadioLinkMiniPix, nor a laptop, is needed. TBS has a stand-alone Rx (actually, they have two - 6Ch PWM Nano Rx & 8Ch Diversity Rx) that works with the Crossfire, for which eliminates the need for a "middleman" (ie. the Mini Pix). The 'problem' takes me back to the beginning, as I have been completely unable to find any info (from either Tx manufacturer) on settings needed to be done within the Tx, itself. TBS has been very helpful in providing info (which is also how I found out that the Mini Pix is completely unnecessary)...but, they have no info related to the settings within either Tx. And that leads me back to the point that RadioLink hasn't bothered to reply to my inquiry. It wouldn't be so bad if they replied just to say they're "not sure"...but, to completely ignore requests for info, that's even lower than "poor" customer service. I will email them again, and see if they reply back this time. Hopefully, I'll have a reply from them before the end of the week...time will tell.

I just received it 10 mins ago, did the speed test, super slow response, sluggish and poor latency on steering servo, I am very disappointed, slower than my old sanwa MX3FG, my best radio for reference i have right now sanwa MT44 and NB4 (i wish i have 7px to compare), both are exceptional in performance, but this one super super slow. I WILL NOT recommend this! Update as of February 8,2023, another issues i found out, jumping to different fhss v1 and v2 protocols (receiver) are not a good idea, for example bind connected to r8fg receiver with fhss v2 protocol saved, then you pre select different car with to R6fg fhss v1 protocol, it will not bind, you need to confirm again the fhss v1 (checked) protocol to v1 enter confirm before you can start using the assigned car, when going back to another with fhss vs 2 protocol you need to go again to receiver setting and select v2 enter confirmed. 😬😬😬😬Freaking complicated!! As long as you stayed fhss v2 saved receivers you will be fine. One more thing i found out, both receivers r8fg and r6fg losing binding connection (receiver voltage 7.4volts) with my kyosho USA1 esc( oem Hobbywing ), I used the sanwa and flysky receivers with no drop out on signals. Either this radiolink need a pretty stable firmware update or I don’t know.
