@@MukeshKumar-jo3jl Apparently everything with my bladder and kidneys were fine. However, they suspect that there could be a blockage in the urinary tract so I'm going to a urologists to get that checked out. The Ultrasound procedure is extremely quick and simple, took like 10 minutes. They just rub gel on the area of your bladder and ask you to move on each of your sides for a short time, they then ask you to empty your bladder as much as you can (your bladder has to be completely full beforehand). After that they just do the same thing with the gel and you're done, takes just 10 minutes and you're out of there, very simple procedure.

@@rhyskooy7454 Does the scan show if your bladder is overactive? And if there is anything wrong with nerves? Did you have to pee every time after drinking fluids? Did your blood tests show anything abnormal?

My kidneys are both 9cm big. Im a male 5'7 145 pounds. Ultrasound report says there's nothing wrong with them though. But I looked up and it says usually adult males kidneys are at least 11cm. Do I have a problem

I feel like I always lose the kidney (either UP or LP--never both...) when i'm scanning transverse. As far as angling to keep on the screen--I've heard having a slight rotation counterclockwise and this has helped some but, as a student, I'm still struggling. Any help/tips on this portion would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for your question. I would suggest that you make tiny movements in one plane at a time. Evaluate the image after each movement, and consider the effect of your hand movement on the image. When trying to scan through the kidney in transverse plane, there are two things you can do: 1. angle the probe. 2. slide the probe. Try to do only one of these at a time.

Hey.. would a full body ultrasound scan pick up things like connective tissue issues ? Internal scar tissue / systemic scleroderma? Fibroids in tissues ? And issues with lymphatic system ? Thanks

We don’t do full body ultrasounds. There are different modalities of ultrasound. Echo(heart), general, & obgyn. They can see scar tissue/fibroids on certain scans. Same with if the lymphatic system isn’t draining.

Why do kidney size keep changing when taken from different ultrasound centers? And it says kidney is normal? Does it get slightly big then shrink then get bigger ?

Same question......! In my first scan they shows (right kidney 5.6×2.6cm left 6.4×3.2) after two months later in different ultrasound center they shows (right kidney 6.4×2.6cm, left kidney 6.4×3.2cm) after one year later ultrasound shows kidneys normal but size variation (right kidney 6.8×2.9cm left kidney 6.7×3.1cm) iam totally confused i dont know why this variations?

Ok so my biggest problem with abdominal/renal protocol is the damn rib shadow … how do u get rid of that ?? I tried angling all kinds of ways , when the patient is able to take a breath it helps most of the time they can’t , how do I go about it ???

Angle the probe to align with the intercostal space, then try again. Its a beast, but there is always a window of approach

Does the person performing the ultrasound ever require the patient to lie on their side, and does the patient need to breathe in and hold their breath?

Yes this stops the breathing motion and helps the sonographer get better images. Laying on your side just helps move bowel and gas out of the way so they don't obscure the kidneys.

One of my friend suddenly started having nausea and vomiting with extreme pain in his back. We immediately rushed him to the hospital. The doctor advised him to get an Ultrasound done.
