It's a really nice radio. I was hoping that it had 999 channels. :( That battery, whichever size it is, is an absolute monster! Looking forward to seeing the spurs test. 👍🤠

PTT+8 and power on and you can set the frequency range from 10mhz to 299mhz and 299mhz to 999mhz, edit: then long press menu to save.

@@HamTechRadioScannerDrones 010-299 didn't work on mine, but 010-300 did. and upto 999 didn't work as well, 800 was the highest to put in to get it working. 300-999 would reset the radio to 136-174 range. But thanks for the great tip!

I don't think so, I compared the weight of my 630 battery and the 730 battery and I doubt it would be 4000mA ; it's advertised at 2500mA.

Wondering if you can do me a favor- Can you review the Radtel 580G? It is 10 watts and appears to monitor 3 frequencies at a time, 3,800 mha battery and screen looks like the 730 ? gps and bluetooth models, not sure why it is not more popular

It lacks sensitivity compared to my RT630 and it's a tad worse than my UV-K5(8). And : no way to monitor battery voltage, no way to program the side buttons to change the output power like on other radios. And : no AGC on Airband stronger signals which are as a result distorted. And: its audio on TX is a little quieter compared to my other radios. I guess these could be easily corrected via sofware, even the sensitivity which may be an alignment issue and not the chipset genuine particularity. Despite these shortcomings it has a nice receive and it's Motorola-style looks make it a beautiful radio and it has the rated power output. With that said, Radtel RT470X (5W) or RT630 (10W and waterproof) are worth the asked amount while this particular model (RT730) is expensive for what it is. It would be a bargain if the above mentioned points were fixed.

Great video Andreas, I always learn something from your content. I also have had good reports on this radio. I deduct a point for the funky plug but all around a clean device. I have noticed the front end is a bit sensitive and can get saturated by strong nearby transmissions but it doesn't seem to be a major problem. All my best, 73 de KK7PRZ Les.

Exactly! I won't buy any Chinese made radio unless I see testing on them. Only problem is, you can get one that fails and the next one exactly like it might pass harmonics. Chinese radios just scare me, they are all over the place on performance.

Probably a dirty emissions spewer. At least it's likely but I could be wrong. I've seen so many harmonic tests on these cheap radios so I don't trust them. My ex bought me two UV-5R (8 watt versions) for almost nothing but they are just toys to me. I'd never go simplex or repeater chatting on them. I have a new Kenwood TH-D75 so who needs anything like these? I'd go on a 2 meter repeater any day with my ancient Radio Shack HTX-202 before I'd even consider transmitting on any of these Chinese brands. And there are countless brands of them now. Also my Yaesu is a true ham radio.

Perhaps not everyone can afford the most expensive amateur handheld on the market e.g. Kenwood. I have three of the Radtels and quite pleased with them.

MOTOTRBO operates across high power tier II and III. DMR Tier II is for radio equipment that can operate anywhere within the DMR frequency range, but usually operates within the 136 - 174 MHz band for VHF and 403 - 527 MHz band for UHF. DMR Tier II equipment must be licenced by OFCOM to avoid issues with interference.
