Royal Air Force Upwood down in Cambridgeshire first open in 1917 and home to royal flying corps. No 75 squadron.
Upon opening of this station there was no permanent buildings on the airfield.
July of 1918 No 191 Night Training Squadron moved to upwood.
1936 saw the construction of C type hangers a permanent fixing for planes to be housed in.
This airfield served both first and Second World War And Cold War ere.
1981 saw the usaf take over the base up until 1994 when all usaf activity was ceased and all usaf had left the base by 2005.
There is so much history to this Base I just cannot have enough fingers to type it all out.
As for exploring this site it has to be one of the best explores we have ever been on. It’s huge and there’s so many different buildings and places to look in and some are absolute massive.
It’s kind of like a ghost town to go round. The officers mess and. Sergeants mess are very nice. Still have the large open spaces and windows in.
I hope you guys get the chance to explore this magnificent site before it’s converted into housing.
