World No. 1 Rafael Nadal comes up against a tall challenge in the form of 6-foot-6 Karen Khachanov in Round 3 of the US Open 2018.
Nadal arrives with a 4-0 lifetime head-to-head over No. 23 seed Khachanov, having won all nine sets they’ve played. But their last encounter, in the semifinal of the Toronto ATP Masters 1000 this summer, was extremely tight: 7-6, 6-4.
Khachanov, at only 22, has massive weapons but is yet to demonstrate the belief he can defeat the top men on tour. Will this match be the one that alters the hard-hitting Russian's mindset? Can he match one of the tour's greatest warriors stroke for stroke and push the world No.1 to his limit?

This match, a 5 setter against Thiem and an intense 4 set win against Bashilasvili. Nadal had a difficult tournament. He had to retire in the semi against delpo

I know Nadal lost the number 1 ranking in 2018, despite achieving it in 2017 and 2019, but in my opinion, 2018 was his best year out of the three. If he didn't have so many injuries, he would have retained number 1 no doubt.

An injury free Nadal is fun to watch. He is formidable n so very hard hard to beat. Likely he will grab 26 GErs when Father Time closes the final curtain.

This was a tough match, very physical. This match started his knee acting up on him, which would derail his run. No worries, he would be back next year and win 4th U.S. Open.
