Since 2012 Nadal hasn’t beaten Djokovic on hard court or grass, not even won a set on hard court. Not so much “rivalry” there. On clay at least Djokovic won a few vs Nadal, like this match here he had the chance to win. He’s closer to Nadal’s level on clay than anyone else, but not really rivalries on clay either because Nadal won a lot more. So when we put together the overall h2h 30-29 it looks like they’re really rivalries every time they meet but it’s really not that way.

@@tehatte um, no. First of all nadal beat Novak twice in 2013 on hard courts and they are tied on grass. Yes nadal has a much better clay record and Novak has a much better hard court against nadal. But that’s what makes their rivalry so good is because they can beat each other on their best surfaces. Not sure what you are saying them not being rivals. To be honest your comment was stupid and not even worth writing. I wasn’t comparing them. Just appreciating their (yes and I dare say) rivalry! You had to make about who’s better than whom comparison. Make your comment on somebody else’s comment section who are debating the “better” of the two. None needed here.

@@joshswicegood3253 Sorry I messed up the years, since 2011 for grass and since end of 2013 for hard court. I didn’t compare who is better at all. I just pointed out the rivalry isn’t really like what we might think. Of the 30 wins from Djokovic more than 2/3 are on HC or grass, of the 29 wins from Nadal more than 2/3 are on clay. It’s more like each dominated on his own surface. I think Djokovic-Federer is a true rivalry when their h2h records are even out on all 3 surfaces, over the years, even there’s a bigger gap in age and peaking time was different. Just my observation and opinion when I saw your comment about rivalry. I have the right to reply. Didn’t mean to attack or anything.

In fairness to Novak’s loss to Roger at the 2011 RG Semi Final, Roger played at his best 2006 level in that match, and even then it was a very close match! Novak didn’t play bad, not at all, Roger just played unbelievably that day. It’s a shame Roger couldn’t repeat it for long afterwards though. 2012 Wimbledon would be the final time that Roger would beat Novak in a slam.

@@justchillin6314 Right Djokovic didn’t play bad in that match but also to me on clay Federer matched up with Djokovic pretty well for some reason. Federer was nowhere close to Nadal on clay but Djokovic was closer to Nadal’s level on clay than anyone else. So if Djokovic won that game and got to the final he might have had a chance to beat Nadal because that year he had beaten Nadal a couple times on clay. Also, remember even Nadal after the USO 2013 has not even won a set vs Djokovic on hard court in more than 10 times they met. Nadal lost both times they met on grass after 2010. So that proved Djokovic got to a different level since 2011. Federer was still very good then but he couldn’t beat Djokovic partly because of the mentality.
