SOLO BACKPACKING COLOMBIA EPISODE 11 - SAN GIL
This vlog was filmed 5th-8th February 2020.
After Medellin, we took the night bus to Bucaramanga and straight onto the adventure capital of Colombia - San Gil. I lost my GoPro while white water rafting on the Suárez River as well as getting a bit of a shock. I show you around the town of San Gil, the supermarket, Juan Valdez and my favourite restaurant! Can't believe how scary that rafting sounded. I've never done it but I need to try it, everyone says it's almost like a near death experience. San Gil looks so beautiful. I'd love having that hostel to myself.

It can go so bad. I did it years ago and one of the boats (not mine) flipped over on top of the rafters. It trapped a couple of them for a little bit. Really traumatic. Luckily no one was seriously hurt. But it could have been really bad. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart.

Miriam Hänle why is it obvious though ? Can’t guys and girls just hang out as mates ? Not saying nothing was going on for definite,but I don’t think the videos made it especially obvious, they don’t seem affectionate or anything!🤷🏽‍♀️ the only thing that maybe made me consider they could have had a fling is the shared bed in the last video, but even then maybe Christianne was just being nice as she was offered a free room and allowed Cole to just crash with her 🤷🏽‍♀️ none of our business I guess, but I don’t think it’s obvious at all,they could easily just be friends

Colombia has most of the rain of any country in the world so when it rains the water gets brown from all the earth that mixes with the clear water. This happed to us in Costa Rica waterfalls were brown after the rain.

RAFTING..ADRENALINA PURA...What is life whithout IT..? You love it and you got it. Great video, love your ^sombrero^ and your español.. your vlogs are very 👍👍in Cartagena you will regain your peace of mind after that ^tremendous^rafting.🙉🙈🙊 Scary..but you ended in one piece. Happy for you.!!

All I have done this lockdown period is pig out and watch all your videos and now finally I am up to date! I love your content, super realisitic, chill and you explain things so well. Out of all the columbian vlogs which place has been your favourite so far? Also absolutly love your black round sunglasses, any ideas where you got them? Supposed to be travelling Australia in decemeber so fingers crossed I can go, written down all your advice on a working visa there. Fav youtuber, hands down, keep going youre inspiring me as a fello video editor myself I would love to do travel vlogs similiar to yours, I love how informative they are, Thanks for everything !

You didn't go to Barichara, the Chicamocha canyon, Mesa Los Santos, Guadalupe river or Zapatoca?!? San Gil is not all about "adventure" you could just chill in those naturally stunning places. You missed out on Santander.

Hi Christine, this is Nic and I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your GoPro 8. Actually, the exact same thing happened to me last month, when I was diving in Cancun (MUSA)! The waves got a little too strong, and my Go Pro 8 was swept away. Needless to say, I couldn't find it back. I understand how you are feeling, but most importantly, you are safe and sound now. Amazed by how positive you stayed despite the loss - you are such an inspiration to look up to! Stay strong and let's hope our travel insurances help us out with this :D

the thing is Colombia is not very touristy, the tourism in Colombia is very new for obvious reasons, in 2006 we saw just the foreign people on TV, now is increasing a little bit. the people still think that Colombia is Very dangerous that´s right.

I can't believe it has taken me three days to realise this video was one of yours! Every time I went to KZfaq it kept coming up but I couldn't understand why. I did some white water rafting on the Urubamba in Peru, I remember it be a lot of fun, but not as extreme as yours. Shame about the Go Pro. Coffee looked good. 😀

Wow you really got bashed on that raft didn't you !!!..quite a bruse on your head there. I think you defiantly got more than you bargined for haha.. It was quite a noisy town with the traffic wasnt it..but still quite a nice place to visit I thought the hostel facilities were really good!!!... even tho you had it to yourselves... looked like you got a bit of sun burn also.... Please tell did your famous hat make it back to the UK without getting squashed in transit?

Been binge watching this series and your videos recently! Love them and Columbia looks beautiful. How do you get around dealing with bugs and insects? Especially spiders! when traveling? That's the one thing that would put me off traveling out with the UK!

I've been rafting twice and loved it 😍 the instructor taught us how to pick someone up properly if they fell off the raft, and would push us off on purpose so we could practice 😂 I also got my foot suck between some rocks and almost got stranded cause the people on my raft started going ahead without me 😂 but it's so fun I would do it again a million times

I have gone rafting in North Carolina in the US several times and our raft has flipped a couple of times. People have fallen off. I know it’s dangerous but that’s part of the adventure. Also in Costa Rica. Lol. You seem to be very critical of Colombia. WhT do you expect after all its call a third world country. The vehicles are too loud, the food is too expensive. My god you are paying so little. I have watched numerous videos of Colombia and I don’t know why your comments are so snobbish to me. I do like your videos have only seen the Colombia ones because I am going there with my daughter and I do admire how you make friends with everyone at the hostels. That’s what my daughter wants to do. Travel. She is 20 and I am asking her to look at your videos so she can see you always meet people to do things with

Hey. I'll be heading to San Gil in November. I tried to find the location for Exploradores Colombia but it keeps showing me a location outside of the city. Is it named something else on Google Maps? Was it arranged by your hostel or did you just walk around and find it yourself? There are tons of companies so not sure which one to go with. Do you think it's cheaper if I just pick one when I'm there?
