Rafting the Rio Grande River in Taos New Mexico

Rafting took a turn when we climbed "The Super Dome" and took a good spill. We were looking for an adventure and we sure as hell got it. Our awesome guide got the boat flipped upright and everyone safely back on board in no time. Thanks for the adventure, Josh!

When you flip the first thing is not to try and swim to shore in those Waters those conditions they did the best thing possible stay in a group check everybody gather equipment flip the RAF pulled the customers back in typical procedure

2 the raft guide. Did those customers upset you? I think hyside commands are General principle of rafting also why did you put them right on the rock? The tongue or V was more to the right I'm only asking questions because my training taught me different unless the customers were pissing me off?

I'm no rafting expert (I'm the one with the gopro on my head here), but I thought our guide was awesome. We'd been playfully giving him crap the whole day about wanting to be "more adventurous" with the rapids, and I think he thought he'd mess with us and give us a close call on this little drop to get our blood pumping and it just didn't go as planned. It was a mistake for sure, but I'm not sure he deserves all the blame. The other guides on the trip gave him plenty of grief for the mistake :)

@@emblemssal okay I can understand that. And again a high side command so that you would know 2 shift your weight into the Rock as he was bumping you in would have stopped it from Rolling but nevertheless I'm no expert either but hearing your view makes it more understandable as to what was going on. Sounds like it was all fun and yes he did a great job of recovering y'all and everything. I'll probably flip next time I go out for saying something haha

@@zacharywinters1841 hahaha I appreciate you commenting. This was exactly 5 years ago, I hadnt thought about it in a long time. I shared the video with that group after coming back to it yesterday and we all got a good laugh.

@@zacharywinters1841 this is old but that’s pyramid rock in big rock rapids at pretty high water and they hit it with a lot of momentum almost completely sideways. That rock will flip you if you are not careful even with 1/4 of the water you see in the video. they would have probably flipped regardless unless the guide had told them to get to the left before they even hit the rock and started tipping but even then it would have been very close and they probably still would have flipped. In the video you see how fast it flipped there would be no time for a high-side command.
