Their friendship was amazing.I feel like Athelstan was the only thing really keeping Ragnar grounded. The only thing from his "old life" that hasn't changed. Even though Althelstan coming in was the beginning of Ragnar's new life (and honestly I think Ragnar would do anything to get his old life back) he knew that he could turn to Athelstan there would be no judgement. They could be honest with one another, ask each other anything and everything, and be as curious as they wanted with without care. I honestly just loved how they accepted each other's differences and didn't make it separate them but that is what actually made their friendship. Ragnar didn't have to "king" around Athelstan he could just be Ragnar. Now look at him without Athelstan, he's a train wreck! I literally hate floki for killing him. All I know is that now that Athelstan is dead Ragnar needs to get back Lagertha more than ever. They love each other and always will. But the hat was a beautiful friendship.

I can't imagine many other ships that this song works better with. With the struggle with choosing religion, understanding their relationship, and keeping each other alive, I can't thing of any other song and/or ship that seems so perfectly made for the other. This is incredible and I loved every second of it

I love Hozier and I love 'Vikings.' Put them together and they make for a great combination, especially with the whole "church"/conflicted religion aspect of Ragnar and Athelstan's relationship. 🤘

i never cry that much for anything in life, this video is just amazing and i just cant stop watching it, when Athelstan die i feel my heart cracked in millions pieces and it takes me month and month too stop crying over the dead of him. They are the most beautiful friendship i have ever seen i wish everyone to have they own Athelstan/Ragnar Relationship even if they are fictional i ship them so much and for life. I dont know yet if i would be able to watch the season 4 because of that but i will try.. thanks again this was magic xxx

I LOVE LOVE LOOOOVE how at 1:55 when it says "that looks tasty, that looks plenty" you showed Ragnar's naked body while Athelstan is staring at it. haha sorry if I sound pervert! but I ship them waaaaay tooo much! :D

can anyone explain me the ending of last episode when Athelstan was killed by Floki? I mean ...I'm a little bit scared to ask this but....Did Ragnar wanted Athelstan dead? Did Ragnar manipulate the whole situation so Athelstan was killed?

Same here. But if it is true my fan heart would be destroyed. Their friendhip was really solid in my eyes. I would just feel like Ragnar is willing to sacriface anything to make his dreams come true.First, he betrayed Lagertha so he could have more sons. He killed that poor guy so noone would know about the murder in Wessex. If you think about the meaning of Athlestan for Eckbert it really makes sense ragnar would want him dead. Even though he was his friend...Ragnar sacrifaced love and his morals. Maybe he was willing to sacriface the friendship as well?? Or maybe i'm overthinking things. Thanks Hirst:/

Yes thats true, and belive me for the first days i have the same unpleasant feeling, but beside friendship ( or love) Athelstan also represent knowledge, a different vision, the unknown to Ragnar, and u know how hungry Ragnar is for knowledge and new things.i dont know,sometimes it makes sense he would have allowed Athelstan's dead but sometimes it just don't. If you fan heart would be destroyed , i dont know what is going to happen to my shipper heart. Thanks Hirst :/

+Martyna Mekart no, I don't think so. There are a lot of reasons why it can't be. For example: Ragnar saying goodbye, "I hate you for leaving me". Then, Floki was jealous of Athelstan and also blame him for Torstein death. Ragnar went a little insane and had alusinations of Athelstan and beg him to not leave him. Finally, Ragnar implieded (it is correct to use it as a verb? idk) Floki that he may know about what he did and finally he confronted him, "i know you killed Athelstan". Besides, in next season trailer, they going to jugde Floki for the murderer. So nope, there is no sign at all of that being a possibility (I think I may have done some mistakes on the spelling and grammar so I apologize in advance)
