Really enjoyed the new format: having Alex teach the game in advance made the main runthrough(s) very easy to follow and overall I felt that having him there to bounce questions/comments off gave Richard the chance to enjoy the game and give the viewer the first-time-walkthrough experience that is synonymous with the channel.

What a great addition to the rahdo family! Not just for the teach, but his insights on the game were top notch. Like he’s been doing it for years. You’ve come a long way since Agricola and caverna in Malta. So happy for you!

The teach is a great addition and leveraging geographic proximity to get a really good content creator involved to do it seems a no-brainer. Alex does a great teach, is engaging, and adds to the experience. Enthusiastic approval from me!

Agreed, I feel the expansion will include something with the encounter tokens. It would be great if it offered you a few choices, either a benefit to yourself or a take that to another player.

It's great that they added that final round after someone finishes the game. We added that to Scythe as a house-rule years ago and it makes the game sooo much better. In games where you build an engine of any kind, having it just end suddenly is just soo unsatisfying. Hopefully I'll get my copy for game night this weekend, it's good to know we probably need to set aside 3-4 hours for our first session (3 or 4 players).

Rahdo is the best in the biz, but this was a bit of a letdown for me (been looking forward to Rahdo's coverage of this game). I like Alex and the teach video was great, but I come to Rahdo for the "special sauce" which is hearing Richard's thought process (and final thoughts) as he plays through a game. Doing the runthrough immediately after learning the game, without even reading the rulebook meant that Rahdo didn't understand any of the dynamics / mechanisms / themes, so he couldn't really highlight or talk through them properly (again the special sauce of his show!). Also I really hope you do an updated final thoughts video so we can know what you think after you actually learn the game!

i forgot to mention in these final thoughts that i'll be playing it with jen (and solo) going forward and will give my own thoughts about the game by the end of the month in the roundup video, or i might end up posting an updated final thoughts instead.

I really like this format, the discussion makes it very valuable. One feedback i have is removing/moving the box cover from between you two. It doesn't look right in my opinion.

@rahdo Just heard your comment on it's a deck builder in disguise. Interestingly, I'm pretty certain Jamey said that he started off trying to make a new Scythe game that was a pure deck builder and it evolved into this game.

This game has good bones but is way too barebones for me. As you said it really begs for an expansion or two to make this a bit juicier. It also seems too long for what it is. Will keep my preorder but disappointed that it does not come with modules

I am used to the format where Rahdo is our teacher and he explains in details what is he going to do and what are the results. In this format I lost the objective of the game as Rahdo and Alex were very focused on mechanics and kept repeating that they have to move or gather or play. And they did those actions as they were shuffling cards and taking workers or uncovering new places. I could not get what are the diferrences between cards and what are their special powers as Rahdo and Alex read them when first played but once they played same card second and third time somewhere in the middle of the game without reminder what they do I had an impression the this is blank chess game without a theme as they were just gathering some resources and playing some cards. I just knew that yellow worker is need for the card with yellow worker but I do not know really why. I can also say that sometimes it was hard to hear as our friends were talking at the same time. I would enjoy it more when Rahdo played the game once or twice before filming this session with Alex. I have to admit that Alex did a good job explaining the rules and mechanics but I would prefer Alex teached only us not Rahdo live during the session. I love to see A&M play together and I enjoy Shea playing with guests. The diferrence between those two and this session is that all players know the rules so that gameplay is smooth and elegant. I watched plenty of Rahdo runthroughts but this is the first time I really do not know if I would enjoy the game myself. Rahdo please take this as opportunity if you agree as I LOVE what you do on the channel and I spread the word that you are simply the best in the bussines. Thank you again for all your hard work.

good feedback, thanks! i think the next time we try it, i need to be quick to ask alex "why are you doing that?" when he makes decisions since he's not used to articulating that during gameplay. and because he fell into that rythm, i did very quickly as well. so can definitely do better! :)

Thanks guys really liked the format.Rahdo you should definitely play the solo its amazing. Even to a point i am afraid that i think 2 or 3 player is the max for this game. Its scales really bad with more players because it doesn't. Map tokens and corruption ok with 2 players with 5 not. And the worker tiles are a serious problem as well this needs fixing. if you are last player you are never gonna get a worker and this will hurt the first couple of turns. Just give us workers or your cards are not gonna do a thing for you. Still love al my SM games. Greetz from the Netherlands

oh i did do a solo runthrough as an exclusive for show backers and i thought it was very well done. i even expereimented with bringing the solo mechs into a two player game to address the lack of player scaling in the game, but we found they were a bit swingy

The game needs encounters, more hexes, maybe a jumping ability / teleport. And combat. I'ts crying out for combat to have something climatic to happen, or dread happening. But not the same system as Scythe. Combat with more cowbell.

How could you have a video that has "Final Thoughts" in the title, but open the video with "I have never played a full game"? We didn't come here to listen to someone else, we are here to listen to you. It's not that hard to play a game before you put a video out on it. Thumbs down for the laziness.
