I fished on the Qualifier 105 in the 1970's and the 1990's . One of my most favorite boats to fish on. Hurricane Bank was my favorite spot . Cows everywhere ! Thank you Qualifier 105 , for the memories .

This has been the guru method for North East party boat tuna fishing for a long time. On a party boat it is essential that you a. get the fish up as quickly as possible b. keep constant high pressure on the fish to keep the end game spirals tight and directed upwards to avoid tangles c. be able to quickly move down the rail, ducking over and under other lines. d. be able to stick your rod out as far as possible to avoid the line touching the hull. Fishing the rail with the rod under your armpit is the best way to do all these things

Some idiots claim that leaning your rod on the reel will just break it... Us Florida land-based fishermen have been using this tactic on bridges and piers for several decades. Landing anything from a large but manageable snook to a several hundred pound shark or goliath grouper. From fishing concrete bridges we have ziptied or taped rubber hose to our rods to avoid scratching and wear down of the blanks. It's good to see some other people riding the rail.

Even in texas it's an effective tactic against big fish on head boats. I've seen the comments about just stand up and fight, and obviously no on actually watched the video. the reason for using the rail is because there are 30 some time 50 other guys on the same boat and you need to be able to move. I'd like anyone to hook into a 100lb amber jack in a harness and clear 50 lines running around a boat for and hour without getting tangled, these rail rod guys don't get tangled. This is purely for head boat fishing.

Rail fishing was something that been done on the east coast way before it was ever introduced on the west coast. Get yo shit straight

to say the east coast doesn't have real fish just proves how naive you are... east coast produces bluefin tuna 1000 lbs. +. find another coast with a tuna fish that can easily smoke a Penn 130 international

There’s always gonna be some yahoo with some pop goes the weasel method to try and cut corners. I see these clowns 🤡 with there rods kissing the rail throughout the length of a fight and there panties are still all wet after the fish hits the deck all exhausted. I just don’t get it? Why don’t they just get a crane and cable instead. This isn’t sport fishing in my opinion.

I believe that the quality of the meat will be better when the fish is brought to the boat relatively quickly. Less buildup of lactic acid, and the flesh stays cooler. Bleed it and cool it quickly. Spending more than an hour on a fish means less time available to get back in the water and get another. Rail fishing just makes sense to me for fish over fifty pounds.
