Yeah all well and good but doesn't 'Flash Butt' welding make this go the same way as the dinosaurs?

The welding principle is the same as flash butt welding. However, gas pressure welding is lightweight and extremely portable.

That's alot of work for one weld....flash butt welding is the way.

@soakz kem not sure about that type of welding...we do flash butt welding...its like spot welding but on a bigger scale using a positive and negative current...

So this is pressing the rails together very hard while heating it?

Yes. The rail is pressurized while heating.
