@@distantsignalDanny, have you done a video about the business of serving rail spurs to private companies and how they work compared with truck transport? I know you’ve done some about the movement onto “private” spurs, but I’m trying to learn more about why railroads would keep the inactive spurs in urban areas. Thanks!

Up here along BNSF i wouldn't get close at all to a crew building. It must be nice to live along a railroad where the crews are friendly. Your videos always feel like we are your friends and you are taking us along. You manage to mix real heart, vlogging and hardcore railfanning all into one and i never get tired of that.

I’ve found that crews out west are a little more bitter towards railfans, while most southeastern crews are a bit more tolerant and even somewhat friendly towards railfans. It’s most likely due to most station and hirailer crews being very local to their area, and thus more accustomed to seeing railfans than western crews, which don’t see many railfans.

THANK YOU for you work (hobby) for us to enjoy and learn from watching.\ My hubby is the best because he taught me and waited for me to "catch" the train FEVER so I've had many years of train-watching and he laughs at my ooh and WHOAs (only for Santa Fe that's another story!). It’s so fascinating how much loads are different depending on your location. I actually work for a fiber optic company that has a fiber on CSX. I’m always from Columbus,OH to Russell,KY, and occasionally as far as Roanoke, VA. We are still dominated here by coal. Everyone has intermodal and standard box service. I guess I should start my own channel because I’m all over the rails and have clearance to be even on service roads in rural areas. Love your channel.its actually awesome to be a railfan that has license to be all along the rails and uninhibited access to yards. Best retirement job ever! Even have seen the CSX president’s train a couple times and once a year get to highrail my route with a CSX road master. My company also does all new generators for NS along its entire area. Actually, we are going to build the training center for NS like the one CSX has in Jacksonville. It’s so awesome to do this job and be a rail fan!!!

Hello Danny, I’m a retired LiRR locomotive engineer 10/72-7/02 . Transplanted myself from NY City in May’03 to Weeki Wachee FL,21 years this year. I have been a rail fan all my life starting with the NYC subway system in the mid 50’s as a toddler in Brooklyn near the Seabeach BMT line out of Coney Island. At age 3 we needed to buy a house on Long Island, so we moved to Nassau county since the family was growing. It’s there that I discovered the W.Hempstead line and continued my fascination with real commuter & many freight traffic.Enjoying your railroad stories immensely. Keep up the great work.Good job!

Add that Central Florida RHS Museum to the list of places to visit next time we're in the area. It reminds me of the time my wife and I went just driving around , and we went to a small town near where we live called Bulls Gap, TN, and completely by accident stumbled upon a Southern Railway Museum that I had no idea existed. It was very close to the NS Main and may be an old depot itself from the SR days. Lots of old artifacts, couple of very nice model railroad layouts, and more. I even showed the guys there the photo of SR 4501 at Bulls Gap from the documentary you narrated "And Then There Was 1" several years back. That documentary reawakened the long-dormant railfan in me and led me to rediscover my love of railroading, especially steam railroading. Hope you and yours (and other fans of the channel) have a Merry Christmas.

Hey Danny! Glad to see you're still participating with the CFRRM. I really miss those friendly folks! They hosted some of the best events for all ages when I was there. I remember one event fondly where we chartered a bus and had a certain dapper host show us around the Bone Valley for the day! Your presentations are always pure gold! The fact that they only had to buy you lunch is a bargain for the entertainment provided in return. And for those who live anywhere near the Central Florida RR Museum, if you're not a member you are missing out on some of the best railroadiana in Florida. They always have an amazing presentation each month, usually led by a guest speaker. Their ever-growing collection of railroad memorabilia is one for the books. And on top of that, they aim to share their wealth with anyone who would be interested. I know they certainly taught me a lot about the railroads I worked for back when I was still there. But I think what amazed me the most was whenever they wanted to go on a train ride, all they had to do was ask. Anyone else had to pull teeth and cut through a mile of red tape. These guys had the connections to put together a train ride and do it well!
