After getting kicked out of 16th St Tower I decided to railfan during the rush hour at the Roosevelt Rd bridge just outside of Union Station. Also saw a few private cars on Amtrak trains.

I use to go to 12th Street, Roosevelt bridge with my baby kid, and watched the trains go back and forth to Union Station, especially seeing the heavily use Amtrak EMD SW1500 switcher, but I found the Amtrak passenger yard quite more interesting south on the same bridge, when I am hungry by either going to White Place Grill or Domino Pizza at the strip mall. Mostly, I go to18th Street and watch the train activity at the Amtrak yard, often time I see other long dead passenger cars being toll by Amtrak to Norfolk Southern, or sometime some freight traffic coming from Union Pacific Intermodal yard near Chinatown. Otherwise, when I get hungry, I take my kid to Lawerence Fishery, my kid favorite place over White place Castle Grill. Now, I am disabled, no longer go railroad watching, but did take a few photos as memory. Someday, my kid will be interest in train watching on the 18th Street bridge. Suprising, Amtrak repainted their F40PH and F40PHM-2 to the new color, like MP36PH-3S. Otherwise, I believed Chicago is the only place that one can still see and feel a F40PH (when Amtrak long phase them out) going by, before Metra replace them with MP36PH-3S. And, it is the only city still run the rare F40PHM-2. If one is lucky, one might find a East Corridor electric train hiding at the 18th Street yard.

Awesome. Great spot to view tons of station traffic. It was interesting to see someone throwing switches manually so close to the station where traffic is continuous. I wonder what would be the reason that these are not CTC controlled electrically. I always like to observe trackside equipment [a holdover from model railroad days past, I suppose] and so I spotted around 39 minutes in when you maybe were more on the east side of the Roosevelt Rd bridge two grey colored structures spanning a couple of tracks each. They have large reels on the upper parts. Does anyone know the purpose of these ?? Maybe shore power for parked commuter trains ?? Great job; really enjoyed watching.

I love this video! But some of these railroaders incorrectly label the wrong engines. The slanted engine isn't a MP36 but a F-40 PH -2! This engine had a interesting history... In 1993 Metra leased one of them to Amtrak when The ICE (INNER CITY EXPRESS) train from 🇩🇪 Germany went on tour in The United States. It was painted in ICE Train colors/ a.k.a. D.B. RAILWAY IN GERMANY. No scale models have been made of these engines. All The F-40 PH by Bachmann, early Life Like, Walthers, Kato, Mikes Train House but the modified version from Metra has been overlooked / underrated. I love commuter trains and many in North 🇺🇸 America & 🇨🇦 Canada. I plan on modeling Metra in scale models! I thank you for this video & many others in 🎬 action... 🚄👍💕😀🔊🔊

False the slanted engines are F40PHMs and those engines with ice train are F69PHACs which were owned by Amtrak for bit taken out of service then repainted for the ice train

IDragon auz Funny to me they look like F 40PH M in all these years of the F-40PH M This is a first-time I've ever heard of F69PH(?) Unless its a rebuild and modifications to call it an F 69. METRO NORTH RAILROAD did something similar ex -GULF MOBILE AND OHIO F-3 EMD units and converted them new specifications to F-10 units. MARC also coverted F-7 units to an F-9 PH.... I just viewed. as i was typing this response .. German ICE TRAIN ON TOUR It reveals: F69PH-AC BUILT BY ELECTRO-MOTIVE Engine number 451. I was close but no cigar! I must say they're dead ringers as you look at their slanted noses on the cabs & lights!

The operator of those stations was called The Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad, and its trackage reached as far as Dorchester, Milwaukee, Edison Court (In Mundelein) and even had two separate ways to get from Howard "L" to North Chicago Junc. Good day...my name is Vivian. I have Been trading Forex for about 2 and half years now, finally at the point I'm leaving my job as a salesmanager. A wise man said never put all the eggs in one basket same goes to income. Best advice I could give to beginners or amatures is never go live, try and master key things and don't forget little things matters a lot in Forex trading or better get a account manager you can trust. Think about what make you different from others never complain. Remember, what makes the rich different from the poor is the mindset. Allow me to introduce to you my Forex account manager I don't know how to thank her. So, I have to sacrifice my time to share her name and contact to the world speaking only the good works of her helping me with account manager on Forex trade. she is Rose Morgan from United States currently taking us on seminar for does who wants to learn structure. This is my Christmas for her. Anyone interested in Forex account management should please contact her for me please 🙏..for quick response please contact her though on WhatsApp + 1 ( 5 1 6 ) 3 2 4 3 3 7 2.

some of these locos seem to have constantly high revs
@NYTrainzchaser Жыл бұрын
Some of Metra's locomotives don't have a separate HEP generator and the main prime mover is used to supply power to the coaches. Because of this they rev higher.
@demil3618 Жыл бұрын
@@NYTrainzchaser Interesting. I think adding to that high rev sound is that these are two strokes, so they might always sound faster than a comparable 4-stroke would sound.

Why bnsf in The side of The coach?
@thebridgeportkid14 жыл бұрын
Because they are used on the bnsf line, which is owned and operated by bnsf.
