This is great! I am a blader for 7 years but for some reason farvs have always felt impossible for me. This makes it feel more approachable.

Happy new year homie! Question for you, the the smaller rails at the park near me are square. When the time comes does the staying on top tip still apply or do you need to be more on the edge for the H block to lock on?
@flowersherolls1700
@flowersherolls1700 Жыл бұрын
Hey Zach! Thanks for the question. I’d say you have to be on top even more on square in order to grind farther. Especially on h-block tricks. On soul tricks, locking in will will feel less scary. On topside tricks, the bend in the ankle will be more intense. But overall, definitely. Stay on top of that square rail. The trick is to find that balance. Get it! You’ve got it. One love brother 🌱

I’ve got a question. So 35 years ago I was a big skateboarder (on the road) and roller skater (at the rink). I’m 53 with some serious arthritis in the hips, autoimmune issues as well, but still trying to stay very active and mobile. 5 years ago I started skateboarding again at the skate park with my son for 3 years. Then I had a flare up 2 years ago and quit altogether. Now I’d like to try inline skating. I’m not getting younger so now is the time. I’ve searched through your videos and researched skates and used choices available right now and I’d like your opinion on the pros and cons to starting off with a similar aggressive frame set-up like you are using. Am I asking too much? Would you mind trying to answer this? Thanks for the great inspiration you give to all. Sincerely, K

Personally I wouldn’t go with a freestyle frames, I personally would start with anti rocker setup. But ultimately I would go with what feels right and comfortable for you. If you are skating flat( all wheels on the ground) then maybe a flat aggressive setup with a wide h block or hood wheel bite protection would be the right fit for you. Look into Roces M12, Razors Sl or Cult, USD Sway or Aeons just to name a few . Hope this helps!

depends a lot on what you want to do. if you aren't going to be grinding things all the time i'd stay away from 2 wheel setups. the power transfer on 2 wheels is a lot harder, it's harder to move, harder to balance, harder to even go over cracks or hit small debris. aggressive skates are also a lot heavier in most cases so you need to be aware of that. i'd start on a flat (4 wheel) setup if i were you. them street frames have a good wide h-block (middle grinding area) also could try the kizer fluid V. skating a flat setup on bigger wheels might be better due to smoother power transfer and big wheels tend to let you roll faster with less effort. i mean, when you're trying to hit things on small wheels you have to charge at everything to go fast enough and grinding slowly like you'll often seen in these videos is a recipe for falling. look up oysi frames see if you like em, the idea there being they take bigger wheels and have some forgiving aspects for grinding. also look up shock absorbers, heat molding, and putting a piece of yoga mat in between your soul plate and boot. your knees will thank you. i'm 31 have been aggresive skating for 11 years and i have destroyed myself doing it. check out 'crash pads' or the triple 8 bum saver as well. if you decide to do aggressive, you WILL fall. whatever you decide if you're skating the park be safe wear protection and TAKE BABY STEPS tiny little baby steps.

Hi Kelly! First off, thank you for sharing your experiences. I hear you. You come off as an inspiration. “Mind over matter.” That’s you. That’s why I’m here as well. I think rollerblading is going to be a smooth transition as you’re already familiar with boarding and quads. I suppose I’m the odd one within the rollerblading industry because I have always preferred 2 wheels vs 4. However, The older I’ve gotten I can feel the cracks beneath me as they suddenly reverberate in my knees. That being said, the wheels I have on my (Kaltik) freestyle frames are size 68mm instead of the 57mm wheels I used growing up. HUGE difference. I feel smoother than i ever have even over cracks. I prefer 2 wheels over 4 because I can be more relaxed when shredding. I don’t have to worry about clipping “inside” wheels on coping. I can grind pool coping better and that’s important to me as I love skating bowls. My entire path on rollerblades has been pretty relaxed. Tricks were rarely forced. They morphed with time and that kept me away from injuries. So it depends on what you’re going to be skating. Are you trying to learn transitions and ledges and rails? Or are you trying to cruse around the park riding flat ground, banks, and bottoms of ramps? I’d say if you aren’t going for tricks but just stamina, body strength, and flow. Go for frames that have 4 wheels. Look up Oysi frames. You can put four 60mm wheels in them and you’ll fly. And then you can also learn stalls and grinds if you’re feeling it. Kaltik also has a good Flat frame. “Flat” is 4 wheels. Check out the Mery Munoz frame. She’s badass and has put in work. She morphed into top street skater using this frame. Anyways Kelly, I feel it’s preference. You’re going to have to feel out what you like as you would with trucks on a skateboard. Do you like them tighter vs looser? My frame setup is : Brand- Kaltik Type- Freestyle Frames Wheels: brand-Undercover Size-68mm Model: Roman Abrate Freestyle frame = 2 wheels Flat frame= 4 wheels. For most of my time on rollerblades, I had a frame that could ride 4 wheels. I just took my middle wheels out. But because I want more speed and grace, I like the Kaltik Freestyle frame that can fit 68mm wheels. Feels right for me. I hope my input has guided where needed. Thank you again for tuning in and listening and for being a badass human. Love, light, and Truth. One love sister 🌱

@@flowersherolls1700 thanks so much for putting so much into your reply. I really do appreciate it. You’ve definitely got me, “mind over matter.” I’ve been blessed to live the life I’ve chosen. And I see adversity as nothing more than obstacles to “hike” around. I always say I do this for my family, so they never accept what life throws at them. But of course I do this for myself too. You have given me more to think about. And also realize whatever I start with might just be the first step. I’ve always preferred my trucks tight and smaller harder wheels. But that also created some of what you’ve described with skates. I think I should lean towards larger wheels and likely go with the flat set-up to get comfortable. I can always switch things up later. I’m in no rush, but I do hope to someday start tricks again but for now I just want to feel that rolling motion up, down and all around the skatepark. I do not want any kind of “fitness” skates however. Because I’d like to be able to grab the tops of small ramps etc. I am actually enjoying all the videos I watch about different skates etc. But getting feedback on what I’m looking to do and the best start for me is wonderful, thanks for all your feedback. Keep doing what you’re doing. You inspire all. And thanks for the kind words. Hugs, Kelly
