It's puzzled me for awhile why there are so few British railway songs; Over here in America, we're silly with them, and trains have featured hugely in virtually every other form of literary art in Britain except music. According to my research, #48215 was built by the North British Locomotive Company of Glasgow, Scotland in August 1942 for the LMS as their #8215. She became British Railways #48215 in 1948 and stayed on the job until the old scot was withdrawn from service on July 9th, 1966. She was cut up in November 1966 at the age of 23.
