the white lizard sitting above you about to drop 100 metres down just to kill you:

a rock or spear can around 70% of the time (depends on lizard bites survival rate) if you throw quick enough, like there is around a second of time to do the throw after getting grabbed. also take into account like a 10% chance you miss the throw entirely (either wrong direction or it phases through the lizard like if bro didn't exist.) vultures (if they have their mask on) aren't actually very dangerous even if you get grabbed, as you can't get instakilled, meaning you can always retaliate as long as you keep a rock or spear on yourself even saint can spear a vulture in it's campaign, on expeditions it has the worlds cringest spear throw, i think it's literally just an oversight from the fact vulture grabs work like lizard bites but without any chance to die, but saint dies to lizard bites every single time no matter what so they probably thought it wouldn't have any effect to bother removing the spear throw retaliaton, but then it made vultures the only stabbable thing for saint lol.

You can only throw sideways. period. When you do the jump your body is facing sideways so the slugcat will throw the same as if you were standing, just now you’re not standing.

Its a bit harder but its one of the most important movements for travelling (around as useful as pole boost cancelling)

I think it depends on what you play with most really. Joystick is significantly harder, I'll agree on that because it doesn't have a speed ramp so any movement is just max speed. I use the D-Pad.

If you check out the community you'd actually find that the difficulty is one of the main reasons people like the game. That said, the DLC has added a lot of accessibility options.

Personally I play with a controller, but I've heard people swear by keyboard too. I'd say whatever you're most comfortable with works honestly.

Keyboard is better for movement since the game doesnt have any 0 to 100 intensity with a thumbstick, its either 0 or 100

If you are good with keyboard then use keyboard and for better performance on the game. I played the game in keyboard because of better performance but had to learn how to use said keyboards.

Unless it's a different button on Switch, which I don't remember for sure, this absolutely sounds like a bug and you should reinstall the game. If it's not that, it may be a controller issue, but pouncing is a core mechanic and I beat the game for the first time on Switch so it's definitely a bug!

if you are still struggling I might have some advice, for pc at least I found a way to use it both, standing still, moving, and backwards with it as well, I recommend trying it backwards first as it helps you notice the difference in the movement to compared to your walk. Simply what I do on pc is use both movement keys for down and the other direction you're going either, left or right and jump at the same time hold all three, for just a second. you cannot be crouching and I do recommend going into sandbox and choosing one of the bigger maps to practice with. for example, try this ⬇️➡️+jump all at the same time

You're throwing it too soon! Make sure you're holding down too (or up in Downpour to throw up, now!)
