As many before me have said "THANK YOU" for your Outstanding videos. I was able to watch your step by step video on how to replace the Rainbow D4, D4C, SE and PE cord replacement. I actually reused the two rubber plugs by carefully splitting them down the center and gently pealing each of them off of the electrical cord. Thanks again for your video. It made the task very easy for me. P.S. I think this unit is like 34 years old and still going strong.

Thank You for this excellent video. Nine years later we are still getting the help we need. Rainbow repair shops are becoming hard to find around here. But some of us keep ours running anyway. Thanks again !

Good Video. I use professional closed-end splices instead of wire twisting and tape. 17-gauge wire is odd-ball. And this cable needed to be replaced due to abuse, not Rexair low quality materials. And I would suggest: With the with top off, check motor brushes while you are so close. These are solid machines.

Thank you. This video came in handy. I have a D4C and was contemplated if I should change as it is only 2 prong verses having a ground on it.

Thank you so much for the video. It saved me from a lot of trouble. I was afraid to pull out the gasket although it was so obvious that it was the only way. But I was still thinking that for such an expensive devise they wouldn't use just glue!

VOYER07, I stopped taking mine apart, to come do a KZfaq search, on disassembly. (Wound up here.) I knew that part was attached I just couldn’t figure out how to get it off... and i kept turning the gold bold in the center... trying to loosen it... I gave up cause I noticed it just spinning round and round... I sucked up a bunch of drywall recently... and it started throwing out a lot of dust each use... so I just banged the sides, like an old tv... until I got the dust out as best as I could. Then, put it all back together. My dad got me liking rainbows because he used pineal in the water! It made the house smell good... I’m using fabuloso and pine sol lol

They have gone a long way since D4 and SE models. This has been resolved since. They have implemented many more innovations than the most (if not all) of their competitors

Are u supposed to fill the tank on the dc4’s each use, or just when ur vacuuming; dust, drywall, and such?
@43128lucky47 жыл бұрын
dont use wire nuts or even worse just tape. the vibrations from anything with a motor will slowly cause the connections to come undone. THE ONLY PROPER REPAIR IS TO SOLDER IN A NEW LENGTH OF CORD

Very nice vid! Any video about changing the electric engine brushes?
@Goodvaccom11 жыл бұрын
You are CORRECT. However that would open whole new can of worms with some old switches falling apart, improperly used or not used cable ties and aftermarket cords that would be pain in the neck to insert as they do not have soldered ends. This may be hard to deal with for less-experienced self taught mechanic :-)

@Virimpa Take the vacuum apart to the point where we cut the cord. Take 4 screws out holding plastic motor cover (white piece in the video). You will see brushes there. They are easy to replace.

Good evening, on having ignited my rainbow it does a strange noise, has good power but there is listened convict, who was happening to him?
@Goodvaccom9 жыл бұрын
Many things can go wrong and make sound but this is very likely to come from the motor and/or fan-case assembly (part of the motor assembly). Replace whole motor unless you are pretty good at taking things apart and PUTTING THEM BACK ;-)

What switch are you referring to? This unit has only on/off.

You don’t have to remove the foam ring I take apart and service these models and I’ve never done that saves time and glue

What kind of cord is this and where can I buy one?
@williamsydnor31594 жыл бұрын
You can buy one directly from www.rainvac.com/ (RainVac). They are excellent at repairs but will sell you genuine parts as well.

u'd think as expensive as those things are they could make a cord for it that would last the life of the product??
@discusobscurum21944 жыл бұрын
I think it's endemic to all appliances, but especially heavy duty appliances like vacuum cleaners. The cord is subject to lots of wear and tear. And changes in heat and humidity affect the insulation of the cord as well. Although, if the cord was shielded with a stainless steel braid, that would solve most wear and tear issues for possibly the entire life of the unit.

Removing gasket/seal on the bottom - just tear it off. If wrong type of glue was used you may end up having to destroy bottom fan casing and purchase new baffle (big plastic piece that covers the bottom). Use weatherstripping glue when installing new gasket. Go to Goodvac.com and search for "glue"

@barrym73411 жыл бұрын
Don't do what this guy does cutting & taping the cord. Dumb advice & not a proper electrical repair! What you actually do is continue to remove the cord to the switch at the handle. You can remove the 2 wires from the switch (white and black) by inserting a jeweler's screwdriver right beside the chord you are trying to remove and give it a little tug. The soldered ends will just pop out, and you can insert the soldered ends of the new cord in place - easier and safer than connectors or tape!

Splicing? WTF
@Goodvaccom7 жыл бұрын
Getting wires out of the old style switch (originally installed on there vacuums) by inexperienced person may often result in breaking the switch and having to buy new one. New ones now come with 4 wires and would require splicing anyway..
@deadpoolbarbie2 жыл бұрын
Please don't ever do that to any of the rainbow. These are the ones I get brought to me that have caught fire. You can't do the job correctly don't do it. There was no reason to slice that wire.
