I love tie dying dresses for my 7 year old. I figured out a neat effect: I started by letting stripes of bright dye run down the dress from the top all the way to the bottom, then while it was still slightly damp I hung it upside down and soaked the bottom of the skirt with black and let it bleed into the colors. The black deepened the rainbow of other colors so when it was finished it looked like the dress gradually goes from bright rainbow at the top to rich dark jewel tones towards the bottom in an ombre.

We tie and ice dye every summer! Nothing is white in my house anymore.....Towels, robes, jeans and jean shorts, shirts, dresses, shirts and even underwear! We LOVE it too!!!

You are so talented at repurposing less than ordinary clothes and making them WOW! I, too, love tie dye. I was born in the 60s, so experienced it first hand.. I bought 3 tie dyed maxi skirts from Roses that i wear alot & get alot of complements on.

Turned out great. Like they say, nothing new. I remember wearing tie dye when I was growing up.

Tie dye is a thing we did many years ago, and I never really cared for the results. BUT I see your items look great, and this method is pretty cool. I agree, ice dye is a better way. Good luck !!!!!

I love the effects you can get with ice dyeing! I've even done some ice dyed linen for certain cross stitch patterns and it really changes the whole finished project!

You don’t have to remove the rubber bands. It won’t leave marks. I soak in soda ash water for 20 minutes, then put the dye and soda ash on before the ice for better color 😊

Would you consider doing an upcycle challenge with a subscriber? Like the subscriber picking something they already have or something they found at a thrift store, send it to you with measurements and you create something out of it and send it back? Or a couple of people send in old fabrics/dresses/etc into you and you get measurements from them and take other people's fabrics make someone else an outfit and like upcycle swap?
