I love seeing what you got your one year old! Our kiddos are a day apart (my daughter was born 12/20) and I think this is one of the harder ages to shop for. I hate "writing off" holidays because babies "won't remember" so I instead try to buy for the year ahead. All of our gift giving is really concentrated between her birthday, then Christmas, and then my oldest daughter's birthday in January. So I always look at Christmas as an investment in toys they'll enjoy later in the year when they're almost at the next age grouping. That worked really well for us since my oldest had her first Christmas. Also, those Gerber puffs and yogurt bites - I have to keep telling myself, a grown woman, to stop snacking on them. They are sort of addicting. Haha. I have really enjoyed your laid back videos this season! Everything has been so cozy and intentional.

Happy birthday to your sweet babe! But I agree fully, it's tough and I don't agree with skipping it completely. Especially with other kids. I LOVE the idea of doing this for the little ones! It's a challenge with birthday and xmas so close, but I like to invest in the year with gifts too. We have birthdays in oct, then dec, then xmas, im in 3 weeks, then feb (I am grateful were having a summer baby now haha) Thank you for sharing i'm def going to keep this in mind going forward. I have heard these puffs are delicious haha I might be buying more in the future lol Thank you, this is a relief to hear as I've felt bad that I couldn't do more this year, so I'm glad people are still enjoying the videos!

Orion was 9 months for his first xmas and then his first birthday was beginning of march so i kind of kept that in mind when i shopped for him last year. He got some upgraded baby toys for xmas and also some stuff for the coming year. And for his bday he got a balance bike! Which he loves and is a pro on. For this coming birthday he is getting an upgraded one. And for this xmas where he is almost 2 he is getting a set of dump trucks, a few puzzles, a set of balls, ⚽️ 🏀 🏈 that are his size with a mini pump. An elmo outfit because he loves elmos world. A puppy just like Zag. He loves animals but especially cats and dogs. A pair of shoes and a pair of slippers. And his big gift is a pickler triangle with a slide. This boy is obsessed with climbing. So this will be a safe space for him to do this. For his birthday he is getting a play sink with running water, another obsession, a new balance bike, and well he saw Zags farm and said please! Please! And tried grabbing it out of the screen 😂 so maybe that as well. He is also really into airplanes and trucks and especially motorcycles, he says “echo” for motorcycles and calls his balance bike an echo and makes motorcycles sounds when he rides it. So he will probably get some toy motorcycles that can grow with him.

That’s a great idea to plan for the year ahead. I’m going to do that going forward, I didn’t want to buy any ride on toys because he’s getting a cozy coup from gramma Bev lol. But those gifts sound so fun! Isn’t funny how the boys genuinely just gravitate to the balls and trucks and things? Zag loves cars and balls lol You’ll have your hands full if that motorcycle love grows 😂

He loves the cozy coup too! But we don’t have space for that here. But he gets to ride them at his little school once a week. They have 6 different ones. One is an old school convertible one, so cute. And don’t even with the motorcycles 😭 he loves watching videos of people doing tricks on their dirt bikes. And he already tries to do tricks. We take him to ride in a big parking lot and he zigzags through the cement parking blocks and crashes into them on purpose and when he falls he laughs and gets right back on his little plastic balance bike. I had no idea he would love it so much. I keep telling him “no real motorcycles okay?” It doesn’t help that TWO of our neighbors own bikes and they rev them up for Orion 😅 he also likes bicycles and its all his dad. Dimas is great on a bike and can still do tricks and goes riding in the mountains with friends. That i am okay with.
