Hi Everyone!
A few weeks back I was having one of the busiest work weeks. I had flashbacks of me walking in Redwoods on a rainy day. I was dreaming about the smell of the forest and hearing the sound of rain during a meeting. It was getting pretty crazy especially by end of Friday. I checked the weather report and saw it was going to rain during weekend in Orick. That was IT! Nothing could stop me at that point.
I hit the the road in midnight. After a 6 hours drive, I was in Orick around 6 AM. Started my hike alone and for the first 3 hours I haven't seen anyone else. I was exactly at where I imagined to be all week long. Peaceful and happy. I didn't sleep all night but didn't feel sleepy at all.
So, that is pretty much the whole story about how this trip happened. Imagining to be in Redwoods in rain and getting there without thinking too much.
I ended up hiking around 20 miles in 2 days. Not bad for a man working at home long hours and not doing anything else than looking at a computer screen all week.
Redwoods... Rain dropping on leaves, big trees surrounded by mist, dense forest, muddy trails, rivers, creeks, birds... I don't think any video can describe the feeling of a misty morning in a lush Redwood forest.
And yeah I used a camera, some lenses and some other stuff... I think trend in YT is telling people what camera is the best, what they need to buy etc. I seriously think all recent cameras are awesome. There are minor differences in between them. In my opinion, everyone should chose whatever camera is best for them and I am in no position of knowing that. I use what is available to me. Thankfully I have access to new cameras. I enjoy trying them but it is just for fun. Please don't think that I am using a piece of gear because it is the best out there.
Fuji is good, Sony is good, Canon is good, Nikon is good, Panasonic is good, BlackMagic is good... There is no need to compare them and lose time. I really don't care. If someone sends me Nikon Z series camera I am sure I can create similar stuff with it.
I hope you all have a great day and enjoy this almost silent ambient road trip video!
CAMERA | Canon EOS R6: amzn.to/3v3p5xa

Thanks a lot for watching! 1. Longest hike I did was the Fern Canyon Trail. The rest of the trails were super random stops in various spots in the area. 2. I used a plastic bag i got from the grocery shop :) Cheap way to waterproof any camera :)

Hey Thank you! So, one of the hikes was super long and I wasn't prepared for it. I ended up hiking 13 miles and 1800 feet elevation gain. Didn't have enough water and food with me. I was miserable at the end :) On that hike I had a very small lightweight tripod. So the challenging piece was the 15-35mm. It felt really heavy especially at last 2 hours. I have been using the 16mm now for difficult hikes. Rest of the hikes were shorter so I was ok to carry a heavy duty tripod.
@BadSloucher
@BadSloucher 2 жыл бұрын
@@barparildar thanks for your honesty. The end result looks like you had it easy! On a recent hike, I brought a 3 lb tripod, Canon R6, and 16mm + 50mm lenses, and felt that was pretty tiring for me just after 30 minutes. I might leave behind the tripod and use a mini tripod and see if that's more bearable. Making and watching these videos feels worth it, though. I care deeply about documenting this beauty and memories just the way I want. I try to tell myself that sore shoulders are temporary, and the footage you make is forever ✌️

@@BadSloucher I actually hike a lot only with my iPhone. I really need to be in the mood of shooting a video to carry a camera, lens, tripod. Being as light as possible makes everything more enjoyable for me. When I go on a hike with other photographers they get surprised about the minimal amount of gear I carry and how much time I spend taking videos. If I hike for 5 hours I usually use my camera only for 10-15 mins :)

Great video! Did you protect your Canon R6 and lens, or was the weather-sealing of the camera enough to protect it?

Thank you! I did my best to protect both. I used a nylon bag and a hand towel. At some point both camera and lens got soaked but thankfully they survived.

Thanks a lot for watching! I never had any issues even when shooting in midday sun at the beach. To be clear I don’t shoot long clips. It might be an issue for someone with a different filming style.

@@barparildar Thanks for your reply. I'm mainly photographer and I shoot video in short clips as well, similar style as yours. That's why your feedback is a good starting point for me :). As you done some fuji xt-4 video in the past, if you have any words about comparing those 2 I'd be happy to hear them. Used to be a canon shooter for 15 years, having a xt4 now, but I kind of miss the full frame sometines, thinking about going back with the r6. Best.
@barparildar
@barparildar 3 жыл бұрын
@@marting974 I am glad it helped! I don't think it would be fair to compare those cameras. They are both great. Both have strong and weak points. I am used to shooting with Full Frame and that's the only reason I prefer Full Frame sensor for my professional work. It's easier for me to compose, plan, etc.
