I ordered a batch of 20 eggs from Etsy and they are currently in the incubator. I was going to let a male and female from the batch but my husband said they can’t because they are siblings. I’m not sure if they are. My eggs are different colors. Can they mate or do I need to order a new batch.

I've never seen anyone turn eggs by spinning them. Did they hatch? With all poultry and pea fowl we turn them by putting big end up , small end up, big end up, small end up. and we start doing that as soon as we gather the eggs to incubate them.

@lagirl6874
@lagirl6874 3 ай бұрын
@@Famvestor yes !! I wish I can give you the video, but I am not sorry on KZfaq on how to share videos. But the male and the female, both incubate their eggs, and also feed them. The place where I purchased them originally the sellers were saying it is not common for them to do that but I believe that they just bring it up so fast they don’t really care to nurture them. I had mine for four years! Eventually they kept on having babies and I had to sell them. I now have a new couple, and they did the same thing. They took care of their own babies and fed them.

@Famvestor
@Famvestor 11 ай бұрын
Yea we did hear that…
@rebeccapassaro4197
@rebeccapassaro4197 Ай бұрын
Yeah medicated feed is not good for button quail that small but that's for chickens so I think that's only about 18% protein button quail or smaller They need about 30% protein I use the game bird protein starter feed It's Purina . Though your feed should at least be 26%. I have 100% brooding rate and my first time hatching in an incubator I had 85% hatch rate also the incubation period is about 16 days not 20. Also it's extremely difficult to get a surrogate for button quail hatched in an incubator even if it's their own chick They will attack typically unless they incubated their own eggs recently and are brooding what they hatch themselves
