There are molecules in coffee that can raise Triglycerides and push down your HDL-C. If you remove these diterpenes from your coffee you can lower triglycerides and raise your HDL-C. This coffee hack can also lower your cholesterol and LDL-C.

My doctors don’t give a rats behind about my great HDL and trigs. They are only obsessed with my LDL and with my refusal to take statins. Never once do they mention any of my other bloodwork and the fact that I lost 35 pounds and normalized blood sugar with keto. I have one cup of coffee (filtered) with heavy cream per day. It is what it is. Thank you for all you do Dr. Berry!

@@cyoungledesma 65 this year. Started keto 20 years ago. Have full English breakfast every day (2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, handful tomatoes, sometimes mushrooms - all fried in beef fat). Have around 60-100 eggs/month. I still wear trousers that I bought almost 40 years ago and have the physique of someone in their late thirties. Fasting is important and only eating when hungry - which is not very often on this diet as it's so filling. Remember though - kill the carbs: all wheat products, bread, biscuits, sugars (restrict fruit to post meal-times but best to avoid on the whole as it raises blood sugar levels) no rice, potatoes, pasta. Use mixed nuts (no raisins) for snacks along with kabanos or dried sausage meat or just simply a wedge of cheese. I have one coffee per day with copious amounts of cream (I use around 1 litre in about 10 days) and throw olive oil on everything (about 1 litre in 2 weeks).Cholesterol levels astounding. Good luck.

I try to keep it under 30 grams a sugar a day, but I'm normally under 15 grams for added sugar. I use a blood glucose meter to see how different foods affect my blood sugar. Coffee is my weakness. Weight loss is sort of stalled, but I'm definitely losing fat. I lost 1 lb on the scale, and it feels like I've lost 10. I saw a big change once I cut out zero sugar creamers and zero sugar products.

My absolute favorite and daily cup or organic decaf /25% caffeine with a teaspoon or so of ground cardamom with cream and stevia. I’m open to giving it up in the future but not yet. I enjoy it far too much. Just starting carnivore. I’ll suffer any consequences right now. 🤷🏻‍♀️Love pour over routine. I gently shake it side to side after pouring the hot water in to create that beautiful foam and allow it to drain then repeat. So satisfying. 🤗

I have type 1 diabetes, so my doctors have long had me on statins to protect my heart. Even on a statin, my cholesterol remained stubbornly high. I heard about this effect of coffee and, being unwilling to give up my coffee, I stopped drinking espresso or French press coffee and only drink pour-over or coffee-machine brew using a filter. Much to my surprise, and to my doctors' disbelief, that change brought my numbers in line and now, my total is around 100. They might not believe it, but it seems to have worked for me, and I'm sticking with it!

@@susangrande8142 That's exactly why I suggested black tea...to help stop the oxalate dumping, or dumping too fast. Woke up on Friday midnight, felt like I was having a heart attack...until I realized it was at the end of a breath I felt something weird. I remembered a month prior, I woke up one night and could actually breathe thru my nose, rather than mouth. I figured something loosened up. I own a BEMER mat, which helps with blood flow, and I created a special program, very low for 20min, rather than the 8min. I laid on my mat for an hour, with the B-Pad over my chest. That relieved it enough...and I started sipping lemon water, as that helps dissolve oxalates. Felt better by morning, but it wasn't until Sunday afternoon that I felt myself...and by Tuesday, it was like the heavens opened up.😅 My brain just feels sooo clear. I've had oxalate dumping from a crown I have at least twice...and the first time it was NOT fun. Had I not heard Sally say on an interview, "Do NOT pull your tooth out" along with it being Saturday, I might have. Now I know it I feel it coming on...and sip lemon in my water. Works like a charm. I also have Sally's book, Toxic Superfoods, as well as taken one of her classes. I've added Mag, Potassium, Calcium citrates, and haven't had dumping issues for quite a while. It's a balancing act.

Thank you very much Dr. Berry for this information...... also, I think it would be good if you did a video regarding how the caffeine in any beverage (not just coffee, but coffee is a big one)... how IF you are a person who has trouble with anxiety..... that ANY amount of caffeine can make it worse... MUCH worse...... and that by giving up caffeine COMPLETELY (even decaf coffee and decaf tea and chocolate) can have a BIG impact on your anxiety level, and especially for folks who have panic attacks. Also, how giving up gluten can improve IBS symptoms AND inflammatory symptoms, depression and fatigue. But with the "gluten sensitivity" issues..... one needs to stay off of ALL gluten for a while. If you are gluten sensitive you will see gradual, steady improvement..... and gluten sensitivity can cause inflammation throughout your whole body ..... including your joints!!! If I’m going 65 MPH but my speedometer is “falsely” indicating 75 because I put different wheels on the car, I won’t get a ticket in a 65 zone, but could be a confused driver. Is that what is meant? My T3, Free was low, 1.7. My TSH was high, 5.040. My thyroid has been fine on Levothroxine 60 mcg. My doctor upped the Levothroxine to 75 mcg. And also said I had to go on Atorvastatin because my LDL was “extremely” high. I researched the connection between low thyroid and high LDL and realized if my thyroid levels are corrected, my LDL would be corrected. Don’t know that my doctor agrees. I have another blood test on April 17th. I told her I would not be taking a statin until I saw the next blood test. Dr. Berry, I respect your opinion. I was never much of a coffee drinker, until I retired about 3 years ago. About the only coffee I like is what they call Cowboy coffee (boiled coffee) in a pot, with no filtering at all. Boiling coffee the old cowboy way, doesn't give me heartburn. But anyway, I didn't think much about the grounds in the coffee because I thought they all settled in the bottom of the pot, pretty quickly and I practically never noticed them in my cup. But I listened to Dr. Berry and went ahead and got those filters and a filter holder that sits on top of my coffee cup off of Amazon. I still boil my coffee but then I filter it through these filters. I think it does make a difference, but is an added step, that so far, I am putting up with. I hope the way I am doing it, is working good enough to filter out these compounds.

I do miss going to cafe’s and having coffee. And for a while it was hard to walk past a cafe and not crave a flat white. The reason for giving up coffee was because I thought it was the cause of my vertigo, but that proved to be coincidental and incorrect. I have started drinking coffee again, but on average it’s 1 to 2 coffees per week. I’m thinking of quitting again, because I can see my consumption and craving for coffee slowly increasing.

What an interesting video. Last year, I went in to see the doctor for a physical and make an appointment for blood work. The nurse asked me if I wanted to have blood work done. I said I wanted to come back at another time because I had not fasted, and I just ate 3 hours prior. She and the doctor said we'll do it now, and take the numbers into consideration. Now I was on the keto diet at the time. My blood work was as follows. HDL 64, LDL 138, Total Chol. 228, and Trig. 160! I was shocked by my Trig levels. They are never that high. They are always around 50. I asked myself after researching why my Trig went up. Was it because I didn't fast or was it because I have one or two cups of coffee in the morning. Now I just started drinking coffee not too long before I went in. I never drank coffee before. My diet is very low carb and I was doing intermittent fastings as well. Now I'm thinking it's the coffee ( which I quit )., or perhaps I didn't fast. I will be having blood work soon so I'll see then. Oh, by the way. The doctor wanted to put me on statins. Which I refused. Sorry for the long post.

I eat low carb clean whole foods and perhaps would transition to at least ketovore if not carnivore but I only weigh 122 and do not need to lose weight. Yet, I love all the health benefits Dr Berry's followers are commenting on. My total C is 322 and LDL is 201, rest of the numbers were good and my health is really good without any drugs. Needless to say my young doctor is still not happy with me. Before she could start with the lecture I knew was coming I informed her that regardless of what those numbers were I would not consider ever taking a statin. She gave me a hard look and said she had never seen numbers as high as mine. Ugh Yet, I'd rather not even hear the lectures. So, I'll try to lower those 'bad' numbers in natural ways and I'm really interested on the topic of using filters since I currently use a french press. I'm looking up unbleached coffe filters I can use in cups or perhaps I can buy a small pourover coffee pot. I found a cone shaped stainless steel filter. Would this would as good as the paper filters? The stainless steel feels safer to me. You never know whats in those processed paper filters. 🤔

She still called in a statin for me even though it was 131 LDL, 127 Tri, HDL 48, VLDL 23, total 202, and chol / HDL ratio 4.2. 6 months ago my LDL was 148, total was 224, hdl 39, and tri 204. I can say that my coffee tastes so much better.

Allow me to ask a couple of question about the Carnivore diet : I am now 100 days into a Strick Carnivore diet (I only eat meat and eggs. Nothing else 400-500 g of cocked meat plus 7-8 eggs a day. Divided in 2 meals) I am now 34 years old, 181cms tall, 180lbs(+-81,5kg) at +-20%BF. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week. I started the Carnivore diet to improve my body composition. I was a healthy guy with no chronic illnesses or health problems. I lost about 15 lbs in the first 6 weeks (Mostly water) but since then I haven't been able to change my body composition. I have now gone more than 6 weeks without registering any body changes (weight loss, decrease in BF% or measurements) I still need to lose at least another 15lbs of fat to reach my goal of being below 15%BF. However, I don't see how the Carnivora Diet will facilitate this process. I have not experienced most of the benefits common to Carnivores (Improved sleep, more energy/disposition, etc.) nor can I change my body composition. So I would like to ask more experienced Carnivores: 1- How long should I extend my experience with the Carnviroa diet to be able to lose the excess weight I still have? 2- What is the minimum time you should maintain a Carnivora diet when it is not working for you? Thank you for your attention Good luck to everyone

You said "divided in two meals". Is that morning and evening? Because those who seem to find great success on it, seem to have a rather short window of time they eat in. Kind of like "intermitted fasting carnivore". Generally, it's a 4 hour period or 6 at the most. "Food" for thought.

Change up your exercises. More lifting. More muscle burns calories at a higher rate.

@@DouglasNicholson-ff6epI was about to say the same thing. In addition it is wiser to eat your two meals early in the morning than afternoon in case that you reached a plateau in weight loss. Personally I’ve lost a lot of weight that I stopped keto because I don’t want to lose more. I added a baked potato in my lunch, or I will eat a banana. I became almost skinny… that is why I stopped. Keto with intermittent fasting really works.

I eat in the 6 hour window. However, I don't see why eating the same amount of food in a shorter period of time will help me lose any weight/fat. Pleny de Carniovre eat more than just 2 meals or dont do I. Maybe the carnivore diet just doesn't work for everyone. Especially when you're healthy @@DouglasNicholson-ff6ep

It's all about a caloric defecit. Decrease an egg and a couple ounces of meat per day for start and try to add some muscle by almost going to failure by pushing/pulling a weight that allows = or greater than 15 reps.

I’ve been using french presse for years. What I’d like to know is what filtered procesd you recommend with a few links to coffee makers that do it.

Melitta makes a coffee filtration system. But as Dr. Berry says, all you need to do is filter the coffee you after you make it with a French press.

This cracks me up. Dr Berry is constantly saying a proper human diet based on an idea of what was eaten by our ancient ancestors.

I grind my own coffee and use a K-Cup machine, but don't use K-Cups. I bought a cartridge that allows you to pre-load a small filter into the cartridge before adding my my ground coffee. Glad I decided to buy those filters. I'm glad this was an easy hack and not something like adding ground crushed red pepper flakes, LOL.
