I was beginning to worry this season wasn't weird enough.

Definitely my favorite of the season so far. I’m really excited to see that so many things got wrapped up already. I was worried they’d string along Mother’s eyes, The Trust, and Father’s science project until the end, then jam them all together in a horribly predictable race to the finish. It feels like the plot has breathing room again-we’re back to not knowing where the show is going.

1:26 -- Mother blew up the ark, because it was full of the Mithraic who then also attacked her in her home and tried to kill her in front of Campion. But she wasn't just focused on her own children (even though they were the priority). She also wanted to start the "peaceful, atheistic society".

As you've said, it's hard to keep a robot child in the show, since child actors have to grow up eventually. However, Vrille's face was destroyed, so maybe her character can stay in the show for a longer while as a faceless android (they can switch actors with time) or she may change her face from time to time as a way of looking for her own identity. It's also symbolic how she's now faceless, without any specific identity. A blank card to rewrite. The other thing about Vrille, maybe she had to jump from the cliff in attempt to end her life as real Vrille had? Maybe android fulfilled it's imitating program by ending it as it's original version did and now is 'free'?

I don't know why but I actually figured that the mouse would be some sort of article of biological warfare. Still, this show never fails to surprise me. I never anticipated that the mouse sequence would result in the immediate failure of the Atheist colony and a complete 180 on which characters hold the power in the story. Once again, Mother is unstoppable -- at least until we see what Grandmother has in store for us. Spectacular show and fantastic discussion. I'll be sure to tune in every week!

There were two people in the cave who were affected by the biological weapon. I think the other one died, but Paul was somehow turned into a cocoon.Maybe that's how "Sol" saves Paul.

If Android can store things by swallowing them, it really makes your wonder why she kept her eyes in a pouch around her neck in season one 🤷

Of course the Grandmother did that it looked like a glowing fireball, the biggest question to ask is if Necromancer Mother is stronger than Grandmother, guess we'll find out.

It is grandmother, the light that saved campion had the same holes as grandmothers body. Is it just a coincidence that when Grandmother appeared in the doorway to Father, it looked just like the Sol carving they found in the cave?

My theory is…Paul gets released from his snake cocoon but he emerges older,played by an older actor and becomes a legitimate threat to Marcus who doesn’t know how to handle the changed power dynamic with his adopted son

I'm loving these recaps This is becoming one of my favorite television shows I don't know if it's intentionally trying to be an absurdist comedy but it is. Mother and fathers innocence is such a beautiful thing

That was a great walkthrough, loved the depth, the humor and the cultural references, all of which reminded me why I love this show.

I am loving how fast paced this season is being. They're not dragging at all! Or at least the rate of dragging per new mysteries and payouts is ok.

Campion falling in love with Vrille isn't that weird if you remember that it's normal for sons to be attracted to women similar to their mother.

Which reminds me, Guzikowski worked with Denis Villeneuve on Prisoners, and seeing how DV loves cerebral SF so much, I wonder if he’s watched any of Raised By Wolves and/or would direct any upcoming episodes of it if asked. I remember Guzikowski saying in an interview that he loved Villeneuve’s new Dune film, so you never know……

Love the show, love your channel and these breakdowns. I have two thoughts I'd like to add. First, Father rebuilding 'Grandmother' is going to go VERY badly. You mentioned the Frankenstein connection but there's also this, Father's rebuilding the android because he has been hurt by Mother, he's been feeling undervalued and wants to demonstrate his worth and isn't thinking about the potential consequences, that didn't work out so well for Victor Frankenstein. Secondly, I'm kind of shocked I haven't seen anyone online really talk about the drawings on their habitat from the first season, lots of talk about cave drawings but not these. From the very first episode of the series the Snake's in the drawings on the walls of the habitat, that's significant

I actually do think Mother will give power to humans eventually, cuz she's got big plans for Campion to lead the people one day. 😏 She's been grooming him for the role since birth, afterall...

I love the track that plays during the trust scenes. It has this weird static kind of tune but sounds so mysterious and ominous.

I feel like last season was very eventful at the beginning then not very eventful towards the middle and then suddenly eventful again at the end, but this season is sort of continuously increasing in intensity if that makes any sense. Aside from that it’s great to hear someone else’s thoughts and ideas about this show being that the plot is pretty complex and all we can really do is speculate as to what happens next.

Humanity didn't create the Necromancers. It was stated in the first season that they were given that information from Sol. Also, suicide is used thematically to represent free will.

The trust told them they were trying to weapinize the snake one episode then the next we see mother making a control chip, we infer that's what the trust meant too. It took it's DNA and made a bio/synthetic virus bomb in the mouse.

But that is the thing, mother does not care about the other people in the same way as her kids. Mother just wants Campion to be the leader of humanity, so she sees these people as pawns to make Campion a king like she has always wanted. Imo, that is why she stressed how she would step down once "a worth leader is found among you" I think she is literally just talk about Campion, so this selection is rigged from the very beginning in Mother's favor.

Even though it does help in camouflage a little bit, the real reason they change colour is to show their moods and adjust to different temperatures.

I love how the show establishes (through the trust and atheists ) that humans naturally tend towards establishing a sort of deity figure.

awww... all this mankind drama just made me realised why we transplant our love towards animals, trinkets, robot girls.

I wish someone would ask Paul more about being cocooned--how it was like being in virtual reality? What and who was there with him? Sometimes they imply characters were talking and comparing notes together (the signal), other times the've just left it undiscussed and I don't/can't know which is which.

*Possible Spoiler Warning.. Sol is likely "Abraxas" the Gnostic demiurge.. The Characters on Keplar are likely the Archons from Gnostic texts, (and possibly, Neoplatonism). Archons are also described in the Nag Hammadi texts..these texts describe the basic outlay for the characters on RBW, perfectly.. imo Our character's are All Very likely to still be in a Sim..a "Simulacrum" to be precise. I have many reasons to believe this...so, well.. err..here goes.. Back on Earth, when Mary, Markus and Paul go onboard the Arc, We see them climb into their hypersleep chambers. So, We know the Mithraic arcs populace are inside these "sleep chamber's", even whilst in Keplars orbit ( creepy cleric Otho "woke up from his hypersleep chamber" to S.a Tempest..the Creep!) When Mother/Lamia boards the Mithraic Arc. Mother enters a room full of Children playing with simulated "snow". Mother asks certain Children to not "be afraid" and "come To Her". Mother doesn't take these kids from their hypersleep pods.. She can't, She's blinded by the cloth over her eyes (a nod to the viewer having the proverbial "wool pulled over their eye's") Mother just gathers the Children up from that "snow room",, then the next shot is of the kid's in the back of the "lander", on Keplar. We never see the Kid's being woken. Mother only ask the Arcs A.I where the Children Are, not where the hypersleep chambers are... because their still in a SIM The rock art We see, at the end of Season 1. Paul sees the rock art with the Snake, the drawings of the ship, the "eggs" onboard etc. We, the viewer, see the rock art mural (the Snake) move in real time. That has to be a "glitch in the matrix" or the "Simulacrum" and another nod to Us viewers that We're in a four dimensional world. "My" "SIM theory" makes sense of Every other strange anomalies that happen on Keplar too Please, Forgive My dyslexic writing style lol. Writing is not My forte, as You can see I hope You lovely people catch the jist of what I'm saying though Praise Sol/Abraxas/the Serpent/Lilith/Satan/Helios/Phillip.K.Dick or whatever the name of that thing in the Dyson Sphe..shit..I mean KEPLAR B is!! 🌞🕶️

Thus far I still think episode 1 was on the level of iconic it was that good. Ep 2 was also really good. Ep3 was just fairly average but not bad, not at all. Ep 4 was totally crazy, even if I have some slight issues with some side actors. Also mother becoming the leader of the atheists was odd but still kinda works as the AI implied that mother is close minded by only caring for her children in reality while pretending to care for the collective as a whole just as much.

Do the necromancers on earth know that they went to Kepler. And will somehow try to get there. To destroy them.

Could it be that Sue figured out what the trust was planning (it did force her to study the snake, maybe it also had her helping develop the biobomb) and somehow tweak it to not kill Paul? 🤔 it makes sense that the bio bomb is related to the snake because of Paul's eyes.

This show is the perfect amount of weird for me, surfing the line of going too far at every big turn without losing me.

I'm always irked when people ( _including_ the show itself) use the term devolve. It's not really a thing. Any change is still evolution, even if it's to something simpler or less complex. For instance, viruses didn't _devolve_ from single celled organisms, they _evolved_ from them. Devolution can only accurately describe a change due to time itself reversing.

I think Sue’s interest in the serpent started because the Trust made her analyze samples for weaponizability (is that a word?). She didn’t care at first but the computer alarm with the Trust’s orders wouldn’t leave her alone. Her interest is piqued once she makes connection that the serpent is baby biotech and mother just lost a biotech baby that she’s being really hush-hush about … until adopting the biotech baby serpent.

What a great episode. Trying to figure out which group I hate more... The bio bomb that got Paul was terrifying. I assume the Frankenstein Android is an ancient Necromancer. Perhaps Sol incarnate. One for the Atheists and one for the Mithraic

I think Vrille killed herself because she preferred to 'die' as she was rather than face the prospect of her memory and personality being wiped and being restored to a basic slave model. She was actually starting to feel things and realised that she was more than just her programming.

I think they found out that "Havana syndrome" is caused by an endemic species of cricket or something 😂

As far as loving a robot over a human/biological person or people and how creepy that could be seen. I think the organic nature of these robots makes that inherently complicated. I do think having an Android based on your biological child is more then a bit creepy, but even at the most simplistic level, these Androids are not only capable of achieving self-awareness, mother has given birth. Her body has responded to said child by doing the android version of lactation. Once that starts happening it’s a question of what is the real difference between being human and being an android. At this point we are juggling two difference species as opposed to human life up against robot life.

I think the boi bomb was supposed to kill Paul, but his serpent power protected him by activating cocoon mode. Some nano bots might have been protecting Paul

I agree with ASX, power scale of Vrille took me out of the story, they should have tied Vrille down with concrete blocks prior to being thrown in the acid river.

I figure the trust created the bio weapon from the snake sample taken by Sue.

Could the Trust have engaged in the war on earth? Perhaps it was controlling the tide of battle for the athiest faction. And the real tragedy is that they followed it to another world just for it to die after everything. I do think the Trust was in contact with something and knew more it just wasn't asked the right questions. It had been collecting relic cards, ones that showed Mother memories. If Mother and the Trust are of the same mind there's no reason the Trust couldn't see these memories as well. Also if you check out the new trailer, there is a brief frame of a being who appears to be doing something interesting with its mouth at about 32 seconds in.

Part of Mother's program was also to start a new athiestic world...she was all about it Season 1. That's why she didn't bat an necro eye at killing an entire arc of Mithraic, but was willing to lead the athiests. Also, for her children, they need community. She wants to pass the baton to Campion. To do that, she's got to take the baton in the first place.

I think vrille saying that she wanted necromancer eyes was the Android vrille gaining some autonomy and sense of self (also when campion saved her from the creature and she stopped attacking him) tying back to the last episode when she had that talk with campion about whether her feelings are hers or if she's just cosplaying what she thinks the human vrille would feel. And what makes the decima/vrille relationship even weirder is that apparently decima killed the human vrille because it was mentioned in this episode and I think it was mentioned previously that decima broke vrilles neck. And it's sort of hinted that that's how the human vrille died.

Mother and bird: a necromancer re-animated something. That's what necromancers do in role-playing games and such. Maybe this was pre-shadowing for things to come. I have wondered why the killer robot, that mainly kills, is called a necromancer. I kinda assumed that it was a nickname given by the atheists that fought them as it sounds horrifying or maybe a propaganda motivated name by the mithraics. But what if the name comes from the mithraic texts that they humans never fully understood? Ominous for sure.

I think that the golden thing is grandmother. It is interesting to think that the cave they found her had some marks like she tried clawing her way out (i guess)... And also that the instructions for the necromancer were allegedly given by sol... I think that grandmother maybe was some kind of Sol's messenger or enforcer of sol's will and the fact she was in the cave coud possibly be because she did not agree with sol anymore and got punished... That would go along with her helping campion. But she could also have been attacked by other beings that lived there...

Canpion heard the snake scream before saving vrill and killing the creature , where was that from ? The shiny android?
