On a recent episode of the podcast, we talked about how the homesteading lifestyle is a call back to home-centered living: homesteading, homemaking, home cooking, home business, homeschooling, etc. Today’s conversation ventures off from farm and homestead topics and dives into an equally important aspect of homestead life: raising our kids. This chat with Durenda, author and homeschooling mother of eight children (five sons), takes us through the importance of raising our boys into strong men who will lead homes and communities. When the world teaches us to devalue the role of men in our homes and in society, we hope this episode encourages you to drown out the noise and embrace who your sons are made to be.
In this episode, we cover:
- Recognizing and supporting the God-given nature of boys
- Taking a counter-cultural stance in raising our boys to be strong men
- The value of seeking a father’s input in raising sons
- Two different approaches to discipline
- Why it is so important to take a step back and pause before disciplining
- How even our imperfect efforts make a profound impact
- Tailoring your homeschooling approach to your son’s learning style
- Embracing the challenges and rewards of the teen years
- Considerations for parenting a son with special needs
- An exhortation to steward our boys into strong, godly men

Great podcast and title! There is no such thing as "toxic" masculinity. There are strong and courageous men, and there are weak and cowardly men. Has nothing to do with the concept of masculinity, but everything to do with the person and their character.

Majority of people aren’t calling masculinity toxic, they are calling out the dysfunction of toxic masculinity which hurts EVERYONE

That may be the interpretation of some, but the plain fact that many of us have experienced is that men are backing away from their masculine instincts for fear of being labeled “toxic” and it’s enabling much of the madness we’ve seen in society to go unchallenged when in past generations, the boys and men would have raised a major ruckus should a man try to enter a women’s bathroom, etc.

Educate yourself about what has been going on in American society since feminism raised it's ugly head with the ERA movement.

What's the problem with the title?
@jarrodashley-vanduser676
@jarrodashley-vanduser676 3 ай бұрын
@@amateurcrastinator9523 the title claims that our culture calls masculinity toxic. It does not. There are plenty of aspects of masculinity that are not toxic and are even sometimes celebrated. Examples: -Wanting to provide for your family -Wanting to spoil your wife/girlfriend -Hanging out in groups of friends that are all male -Teaching your kids about sports -Liking cars, hunting, & other outdoor activities. The term toxic masculinity only refers to a small set of unhealthy traits that in the past have been excused as part of masculinity. Examples: -Not being able to show emotion -Expecting your wife to do all the cooking, cleaning, and childcare -Not letting your wife work if she wants to -Hitting on your female coworkers when it makes them uncomfortable -An example from my own family: only paying for your son’s college and not your daughters’.

If you don’t see the current culture trying to feminize young men and throwing out the term “toxic masculinity” to undermine men and their role in society you are the one that is ignorant.
