Hello All and welcome back to The Bearded Woodworker. In this episode, I make foot extensions to rise my recliner a little higher to make it easier for me to get up out of it. I am 6'5" and as you can see, I am pretty large and heavy too, and I was finding it a little challenging to get up out of my chair. I used regular Doug Fir 2"x4" dimensional lumber. I first started off by ripping the rounded edges off and cutting them down to size. I ended up thinking it was a good idea to span a brace across the 2 legs(?) to keep it a little more stable. I used a piece of 1"x4" with pocket holes on each side and glued and screwed it in place.
So essentially, the chair is raise up 3" inches, which is the height of 2 2"x4"s. and it makes a huge difference. Hopefully this video has perhaps helped you or inspired you to do the same if you as in need of it.
Thank you so much for watching!!
