people say rondo was lucky to have pierce, ray, and kg. but i think they're actually lucky to have him..i mean he makes such smart decisions and his passes only go to where his teammates can get them and away from the defenders' reach

For most PGs, 20 and 10 means 20 points/10 assists. Not for Rondo. The greatest Assist Man I have ever seen.

even after an ACL injury he still Greatest point guard ever! 2013-2014 season only played 30 games because of that injury but still got 11.7 points 9.8 asists and 5.5 rebounds? What point guard in the leauge is a walking double-double and a triple-double machine like this dude?

You have to wonder how many assists this Rondo would have gotten in Mike D Antoni's run N gun offense or Brett Brown's speed ball. Speed ball teams tend to inflate assist stats and scoring stats. I'm sure Rondo would have averaged 15+ assists on a D Antoni team.

agreed man, WB is almost a point-forward? thunder is a team with alot of hybrids, it works well for them. WB's can turn on his explosiveness to break down the defense's equilibrium over multiple possessions (to his teammates' advantage i suppose, WB himself is not so consistent as you've mentioned).

Rondo is already considered to be on the same level as far as a point guard as CP3 n D-Rose he is actually ranked 2nd best point guard in the NBA after CP3 .. N once his scoring comes in that'll be the past. Because his ability to score is there we saw it with the 45pt game he had against the Heat last year. He just needs to bring it out more often

hate it when people bring up triple doubles. Oscar Robertson leads NBA All-Time with 181 career triple doubles(one season averaged a triple double). Only won one title, and on that team he had a guy named Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Nash is definitely one of the greatest PG's of all-time and won back to back MVP's. Incredibly impressive, but I don't think he's a better shooter than Larry Bird, Mark Price, and others...

If you don't know, pure point is "a John Hollinger-designed "Sabermetric" state which attempts to measure a point guard's ability to play as a point guard should (by maximizing assists and minimizing turnovers through good decision-making, vision, and ballhandling.) next time, instead of just watching it, actually evalutate the game

The game has changed but not the way you say. It used to be a big man dominated game where the point guard was responsible for feeding the dominant big man in the post, if you had one. Otherwise, you implemented the pick and roll or dished out to a good shooter on the wing. Either way, the point guard's first priority was passing the ball. Furthermore, defense is, due to lesser ability and offense-happy rules, far weaker than it used to be. Basketball today is all about the perimeter.

NBA 2k13 corrupted how I see basketball games now. I always imagine getting awarded teammate grades for assists.

I agree that Rose, when he was healthy, could take over a game with his scoring, but for a point guard, his passing is mediocre at best and he could never take over a game with it. Rondo is the best passer in the league by far.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but i thought that if the ball was passed, say from Rondo to Big Baby, and Big Baby puts the ball down, then there is no assist?

i like rondo a lot hes a super pg and one of the last true pgs in the league if you ask me. but he has to shoot more cause in reality you can kinda not mark him once he has the bal land pay more attention to the other celtics seeing as hes wayyy more likely to go for an assist than a basket i mean this season hes averaging 11.9 point and 11.7 assists if he had to slightly bump up the scoring easily top 5 best pgs of all time.

This just goes to show how little you know about the NBA. Derrick Rose is the best player I've seen here in Chicago since Michael Jordan. His ability to take over games both point and assist wise is unlike anyone I've ever seen. Derrick Rose is the best point guard in the league when fit, so athletic.. Strong, Quick, and unbelievably good. That's what you look at in a point guard, his ability to control games. By that said, Derrick Rose is better than the two.

The thing about Curry having a team he needs to guide means that he gets more playing time, unlike Rondo.

I was gonna agree with you until you said Rondo was the best point guard in the 21st century. Chris Paul? Just as good passing. Better ball handling. Better scorer. Quicker(questionable i know). Paul literally does what he wants when he wants.

Doesn't matter too much about his 3 point game, I agree he could work on it, but he's much more effective in the paint, why risk a 3 when he can for sure take it to the hoop, or dish it off when things get cramped.

Honestly in my opinon Rondo is the the best at Leadership in terms of setting up his teammates he has the best PG I.Q he's able to pass out of shoots to a teammate without a turnover. Derrick Rose is the best pg at closing out a game and he is probably the fastest pg in the league along with Wall. CP3 is just the best at maturity and not getting hurt lol. Deron or Curry is the best pg at shooting 3's. As for defense i have to either go with Rondo or Westbrook. And for crazy shots Rubio or Parker

Mediocre as compared to what? I'm not saying he's the best passer in the league, which he isn't, but controlling games as a pg isn't about assists. and he CAN pass. He's got absolutely mental scoring ability and combine that, with the fact that you've got one of the quickest and strongest point guards the league has ever seen. His athleticism is what sets him and even RW apart from other point guards in the league. That said, I firmly believe Derrick Rose is the best point guard in the league.

Those are great players, but don't disrespect Duncan, he flat out has better stats and awards than Worthy and Mchale over his career Worthy: 17.6ppg, 5 rebounds per game, .7 blocks per game, 1 MVP, 3x NBA champ Mchale: 17.9ppg, 7.3 rebounds per game, 1.7 blocks per game, 3x NBA champ Duncan: 20.3ppg, 10.3 rebounds per game, 2.2 blocks per game, 2 MVPs, 4x NBA Champ, 3x NBA Finals MVP Bird is a better player but he's a small forward, so... yeah.

PS. i did some quick calculations he literally assisted 50% of the baskets made by the celtics

Anyone who would take a guy who averages 11 pts and 11 asts and 5 rpg (Rondo) over a guy who gives you 24 ppg 8 apg and 5rpg (Westbrook) is high. Westbrook is younger, way more athletic and explosive and can score and shoots over 80 percent from the line. I could prolly name 5 guys I would take over Rondo esp now after his injury and I'm a Celtics fan- Westbrook, CP3, Tony Parker, Kyrie Irving, Rose (when healthy), and maybe John Wall... Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday are damn good too!

rondo has all it takes to be the best point guard with his original point guard style which consist of court vision, passing ability and hitting players on time. rose is a good point guard but only relying on his athleticism.

SO like i said he is working on the jumper you just showed me that Rondo gets to the line way more than him so that means he can direct plays and take it inside through contact
