In today’s episode of Figuring Out, Raj is in a conversation with Srijan Pal Singh. A social entrepreneur, former Advisor to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, and founder of Homilab and Kalam Centre, Dr. Singh is also an author who's deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of inventors. In this discussion, Srijan shares his mission to create a new generation of inventors, echoing Dr. Kalam's belief in giving dreams to children. The conversation navigates through India's democratic spirit,Srijan’s formative years, his education, and his serendipitous encounter with Dr. Kalam.
The conversation drives into India's historical shift in the field of science and innovation. Dr. Singh traces the roots of India's scientific accomplishments, delving into the pre-colonial era and the unfortunate transformation post-British rule. He unveils how the nation that once excelled in areas like botany, Ayurveda, and binary numbers was systematically derailed by British policies and colonial education.
Srijan’s Homilab, which has over 40k subscribers, focuses on 2050 and beyond, tackling topics like Mars colonisation, fusion power, quantum computing, and the often misunderstood AI. Delving into future technologies, he explains quantum computing, envisioning a world where devices can predict astrological events and where humanoids could even engage in love relationships. He sketches an exciting future where machines have rights and lawyers.
The conversation turns to energy independence, a dream championed by Dr. Kalam. He elaborates on India's strategic advantages in the hydrogen sector, foreseeing the nation's transition to hydrogen-based energy. Addressing India's perception, he highlights the nation's history of innovation through significant achievements like BrahMos, nuclear capabilities, and space exploration. He also scrutinizes the West's role in leaving India with challenges, like economic decline and societal fragmentation, which were intended to weaken the nation.
Make sure you watch this podcast till the end, you’ll be left with some changed ideologies about India & its history!

Dear Srijan Pal Singh, As a dedicated Vipassana meditator for the past five years, I've experienced profound personal transformation through this ancient practice, which originated in India. I believe that just as resources are essential for changing the external world, meditation is crucial for transforming individuals internally. In my journey, I've found that meditation has the potential to make each individual akin to a black hole-a metaphor for the deep and profound inner transformation that meditation can facilitate. However, I've observed a reluctance from governments to integrate such ancient wisdom into mainstream education systems. My question is, why do you think governments are hesitant to introduce meditation, particularly practices like Vipassana, into every school and reform our education systems accordingly? Given the evident benefits of meditation for mental well-being and holistic development, shouldn't it be a fundamental aspect of education worldwide?

As I was listening to this podcast, it came to my mind that it's not that we wait to be recognised by Western cultures, Western science etc, but in fact it is these people who recognise our talents ( may not be at Nobel prize levels) , rather many people studying PhD 's are stuck here in India for years without getting their degrees because of lousy guides/ politics, where as the same talent is recognised in the west and encouraged to utmost extent.

You both moved the discussion on so naturally. Ive subscribed. Looking forward to exploring your previous videos & would love talks with other top class minds dedicated to India Rising. We children of the diaspora survived & thrive with love & pride for our motherland through the bad times to this wonderful historic period we believed would be reached. Yes, even in the mid 1960s press India were descrbed as always sitting hand outstretched, starving & always would be according to my UK class teacher. My reply was that by 2000 I was certain India would be standing strong, able to feed others ( I believed what my parents always said at home).Thank you Raj Shamani for introducing me to such a knowledgable & respectworthy proffessional & also for your relaxing interviewing style. Blessings.

Had we Indians genetically not been optimistic our civilisation would have been destroyed & eliminated. I had the good fortune of attending a talk by Respected Dr Mashelkar . Believe me he is inspiration personified. He has immense faith in our youngsters. He concluded his talk by stating " I am a dangerous OPTIMIST".

Let the young children and teachers and parents realize that Indian education system is getting better and a child need not necessarily go abroad for higher education. Can we create a better educational environment in our country and enable young achievers abroad to return to India and serve the country please? Thanks for the efforts taken .🎉

I would like to see more people from vast fields explaining the concepts and ideas that often get dismissed in this world of social media, and many of the youth feel too hard to understand. The people who have immense knowledge in their field can simplify it. Just like Srijan sir did for Quantum Computing, which i wouldn't have tried to understand more about, as it would have seemed very hard to understand, as I belong to a whole different field.

The guest really is and should represent the aspiring young Indian generation. Thank you for bringing this gem. The youth need such people rather than short sighted dwarfs of politicians who only talk of eliminating religions.

100% great visionary words ! Really eye opening ! First of all throw away inferiority complex from Indians / Indian youth ! As Swami Vivekananda said " Have Strength , ...Return to Upanishads , ...look back , draw inspiration and create great vision and future for your self " .... Please make panel discussions , bringing experts from different fields , ... Need to create a new education system , throw away the foolish Mecauley system ....which is still spoiling young brains and hence producing only JOB Seekers ! Great work ! Please go ahead !!

Phew! That was emotional, optimistic yet realisation of how we take democracy as simple as voting, National anthems for granted not realising how many sacrifices were made befor independence & after independence! We need to give credits to everyone who helped this nation build & keep workin hard to make it superpower in every field yet remain humble & grounded thats the mantra for successful Bharat!
