@@uroskostic8570 The 105 L68 was only built as a prototype cannon, it wasn t even installed in the Tiger 2 turret. But that would have been the next upgrade if the IS-3 and T-44 started to appear on the battlefield. (Same performance as the 128 Pak 44)

Why should the Tiger's 88 be more accurate than the T-54/55?

I'm confused as to why the 55s didn't have APDS or HEAT-FS. I think the creator of this is confusing the T-54 (specifically the early versions) with the T-55.

@@albertoamoruso7711 I get that, I'm not referring to the armor or anything about chassis though. I'm referring to the time period and ammunition used by the vehicle at that time. By the time the T-55 was in service in the late 50s APDS and HEAT-FS were already in standard use. This may just be me nit-picking but I feel like presenting T-55 in this context is misleading.

@@bionacle11 You are both right and wrong..they had low production numbers (around 700?) but the thing is that they were (only) deployed in Heavy Tank Battalions (Schwere Panzer Abteilungen) with 45 Tigers each. So in most cases the Soviets faced a lot of Tigers at once.

@@flakka1685 no it's not. while i disagree with this notion that Russian tankers were worse than german ones, this still doesn't matter. the t55 had a stabilizer and superior optics which would easily make up for any lack of ability on the part of the Russian tankers. The KT was also produced at a time when Germany was experiencing manpower shortages and it is easily conceivable that these are manned by less experienced crew.

Now, if the "88 mm at 1000 m/s" clearly refers to the King Tiger's KwK 43 L/71 gun, the "128 mm" gun is without shadow of a doubt the PaK 80 L/55 used by the Jagdtiger which is a far superior gun. Then, T-54 was superior to the KT in terms of firepower, protection, mobility and fire control. This is NOT a simulation but a game, which probably ignores ballistic and metallurgical mechanics. Not only the T-54 was better protected, but its steel was of an higher quality, while KT had a thinner armor and its steel used vanadium instead of molybdenum, meaning that it could have cracked open even to non-penetrating shots. The only way KT can overcome the T-54 is by attacking it from the sides or from camouflaged positions at short range.

But this is about a 1v1 between two types of tanks. In perfect conditions. The only thing that the Tiger 2 would face would at best be the T-54 1949/A, in the context that the KT was upgraded till lets say 1946.

But it still hurt the T-55, it doesn't mean this tank is advanced that mean it cannot be defeated T55 frontal armor is only 100 angled, the 8.8cm of the tiger could penetrate so it mean it can be destroyed And same to the TIGER, it has a good armor but if the T-55 used his advanced ammo, it would penetrate without problems

In real combat, most of the time a tank is not hit on the front armor anyway, in fact most of the time the tanks will be hit on the weak side and rear armor since this is the most volume and area of a tank. You can not always face the enemy only with the front armor, it's not possible. In reality the enemy will always try to outflank you from all directions. So sooner or later the side armor will eventually be exposed. The real battlefield is very chaotic, complex and confusing. Real battles are not so simple like virtual computer game. Just because a tank has a good front armor, doesn't make it invulenrable or indestructabke (like the OP said, quote: "without any casualties" that's just bullshit). The King Tiger had a nearly impenetrable front armor in real life during WW2 too, so was it indestructable? No of course not, many King Tigers were still penetrated from the weak side armor. And the same would happen to any other tank on a high intense battlefield.
