Soon going to be 40..was a teenager when first heard this song. Back then we used to have cassette players. We had to record songs from shops, no youtube, no internet nothing. In one cassette max 10 songs could be recorded so we used to take only the most favorite songs. It was actually the first song I planned to record & I used to hear it on loops. What beautiful days those were! Miss 90's era so much 😢

I can memorise the days of 90's when I watched this movie in theatre. No mobile , no small screens , no so much technicality entered in our life. Life was simple and easy . This song mesmerised the audience. Whether lyrics or music or singers or choreography, it is still masterpiece of India cinema. Salute to Late Majrooh Sahab, Jatin & Lalit Pandit, Udit Narayan & Sadhna Sargam and Farah Khan also.

I'm from Sri Lanka. We grew up listing to Hindi Songs. Besides Sinhala, Hindi is the most beautiful language to me. These songs take me back to our childhood. We didn't even have a color TV we watched these songs and movies on Black and white TV. Those days were wonderful.

I don’t speak Hindi.Barely manage to understand. This song is my all time most favourite song. Since I don’t sing or listen to a lot of Hindi melodies never bothered to much go into the details of this song such as the singers, the finer meaning etc. This info that the lyricist is 73 years old when he penned this is a hearty news. Poets’ mind stays super young no matter their physical age. Age only hones up their words with passing time. Poets stop being one when their feelings stop being young. We had a lyricist called Vaali in Tamil field, whose lyrics only got better with each passing years. Jus sayin.

Majrooh Sultanpuri was 70-72 years old when he wrote this song. Can you imagine how evergreen he would've been at heart?? Urdu emotes poetry in a beautiful way and this song is proof enough. And Urdu was born in India just for you and me to emote! Beautiful!
