Chuck Dee was down with Spectrum City DJ Crew before he started Public Enemy and they would battle Music Mind who was from my hood New Cassell Westbury Long Island. Yo I'm listening to what Jay Quan is saying about Rakim Allah. Yo Rakim is the god emcee no doubt. He is one of the best ever. He's in my top 3 of all time. Really top 2 of all time. No disrespect intended, but I think Jay is reaching a bit with what he's saying Rakim was the only cat to rhyme such & such. Based on the example he gave. I think he should go back & listen to BDP's "Poetry" rhyme style. How many styles has KRS-ONE invented? How many Rappers has he influenced? How many emcees has he dissed? Rakim is my 2nd favorite emcee, but if we're compare styles?, KRS has displayed way more styles than Rakim. No diss. Rappers & emcees were influenced to rhyme like KRS also. Once KRS dropped "Ghetto Music" & a couple other jawns that were a little different...cats started to sleep. But that's another topic. In any case, much respect to the god Rakim & this induction was well deserved & looking forward to the new album. 💯
