This will result in higher maintenance and upkeep costs, add to our already overpolluted atmosphere, and probably drive road rage incidents (and a corresponding increase in the VIOLENCE between motorists) off the charts! Light rail doesn't pollute at the vehicle level, and due to steel wheels on steel rails, is MUCH SAFER and MORE COMFORTABLE than the automotive option. Plus, rail, whether the track or vehicle, outlasts both street/road/stuperhighway surfaces, the automotive vehicles, and (ESPECIALLY) the tires they use by several orders of magnitude! Furthermore, the investment in solid steel rails means a PERMANENCE of the transit corridor, guaranteed to be there for several decades, whereas with even a BRT arrangement, it could be "here today, gone tomorrow"!!

@@Dave05J Because it SHOULD be LIGHT RAIL instead! Technically, a bus is just an AUTOMOBILE just like any car!!
