Special guest Ralph Gilles, President of SRT, sits down with Angus MacKenzie, Randy Pobst, Jonny Lieberman and Ed Loh at the New York Auto Show and give their thoughts on SRT's Viper TA. The crew also discusses the future of the Challenger, as well as which cars caught their attention at the 2013 New York International Auto Show.

Yes he is. He talked with a bunch of us at Mopars at the Strip a couple years ago. They actually care and listen to their buyers.

Why is he so concerned about making the viper seem more user friendly? I love the fact that people are scared to drive it. Gives the car it's own character. Don't let the people decide who is the villain, I want the viper to be that car without question. It's always more fun when the bad guy wins. Besides my friend's grandma drives a vette… I hope I never have to say that about the viper.

V8Supercar1 The car is better. I'm just saying when he talks about the car he talks as if he is trying to let people know the car is more tame. It's a high powered light weight rear wheel drive car, it should scare people.

Andre Yanez I get what you are saying. Yeah I agree. Anytime you have a rwd car with over 600 ft lbs. of torque, its gonna scare people. lol

Thanks to this video Mr. Gilles just won a whole bunch of new fans. This is the most honest down to earth guy I have seen in an interview. Sure the vehicle introductions are oh this is the best thing since sliced bread, but every automaker says that. In this interview he was up front, honest and direct. My congratulations to you Mr. Gilles SRT is in good hands. Can't wait to see what forthcoming from you guys.

Thanks to both MotorTrend and Ralph Gilles for putting the cars first. This sort of transparency from consumer, to journalist, and all the way up to corporate executive is a rarity in most industries. What we see resulting are better products, more satisfied consumers, and very happy car fanatics! It was also very refreshing to hear Ralph speak a bit about the other products on the market. A true car person is excited by more than their own coolade, and Ralph has a pulse. Keep it up!

For those that are interested 10:20sec is where they talk about the tires.. Ralph says the T/A is 2.5sec faster with Michelin cups like the Z06 has than the stock Pirelli Corsa's...so It would be 2 sec. faster than the 2016 Z06 and only .5sec behind the P1..and thats the old aero not the 2.0.

Best WOT ever done. Hats off to everybody involved. Heck, even the camera man and the man/woman who made the coffee. I can't tell you how gratifying it is to see a company Executive who actually KNOWS what they are talking about. Imagine that...a CEO who knows a thing or two about design and performance. And who GIVES A DAMN. He should be CEO of Chrysler when/if they go public. Again...hats off the Motor Trend. Please make more WOT like these!!!!

This was a FANTASTIC SHOW!! PLEASE keep the tempo at this level or higher, on the show. the previous one, chaired by Ed Loh, was actually AWESOME. GREAT education on crash tests and their use... but the tempo and emotional level was too low. I get it that is in the guys, but cheering up helps. your market is guys who CARE and have fun... per the response to videos and text!! Keep at it, and hats off for an incredible platform. yes Angus, that is to YOU.

Excellent panel! The best so far (needs carlos and scott mortora too). Absolutely loved this show!....btw the automotive industry needs more people like Ralph! I think the whole viper "controversy" shows how the media and the automotive industry can have an awesome symbiotic relationship and MAKE BETTER CARS! Just imagine if the other manufacturers did the same as Ralph and SRT, the world would be a truly better place. I have massive respect for Ralph and SRT, well done guys.

When are you going to test the T/A 2.0 and could you PLEASE also run it with a set of ACR Kuhmo's so us speed junkies can get an idea of how much better the aero and tires are vs. the stock T/A's equipment. I think the T/A with ACR tires or the T/A 2.0 with stock corsa's can easily beat the new Z06's track time.

This is the best round table yet. A good thoughtful discussion and adding a designer in the mix. Congrats for helping Viper build a better car. And kudos to Chrysler for taking car building seriously. Makes me want to go get another one ( I had #97 of the first vipers, remember the plastic zip-on windows?) it literally burned blisters on my feet driving from TN to FLA.

gilles is an awesome guy. i wished company CEO's were more like him then maybe we'll see more soul and passion put into all cars (not just the expensive ones). very well made video motortrend!!
