Like Paul Newman he stayed away from living in Hollywood. Paul lived in Connecticut. Really lived here didn't just "own a house". He had business partners in my normal middle class town and would be seen at local places having lunch like a regular guy. Ralph is the same type- much more grounded and not warped by living in a fantasy 24/7!

This is what I've been saying since the beginning honestly, when it started on KZfaq. One of the first things that I remember saying to myself was "This makes new Star Wars look like amateur hour." What they did on such a small KZfaq budget, yet they balanced the old and new much better than a huge studio property, was amazing. It handled both of the storylines at the legacy characters and perfectly introduced new characters that you actually care about. And it showed that you didn't have to kill off the legacy characters in order for the storyline to work. And my favorite part? Some people said "yeah season 1 was good, but can it keep it up?" And it has. It's gotten better year to year. The difference here is people who actually care deeply about the material are making it. That's the essential material, and the key to why it is so good.

I think Cobra Kai and The Mandalorian are two great examples of taking an established franchise and breathing something new and interesting into it. Both do nostalgia very well but also bring in something new we never knew we needed. Both shows do fan service right.

Cobra Kai doesn't exist without the Karate Kid, and neither does Johnny, Miguel or Hawk, so don't be rude. In any case, Ralph does great with his material. There are very few nearly 60 year old men who can hold their own in a karate battle. I bet you couldn't do it.

You are wrong, the first season was pretty much Johnny's side of the story and his way of helping bullied kids from High School, daniel was nothing more than supportive character - very close to self-righteous bully. Only in season 3 we see his forced, ridiculous arc with a village kid becoming vicepresident (how lucky is that) for overseas markets executive that is actually directly related to his business. His arch enemy teaches him bs/fairy tale technique in a matter of few hours that took karate founders several generations to develop. He is a definition of mary sue... just like star wars rey Besides he is even more pathtetic martial artist that he used to be which is now very transparent during action scene. Johnny can actually kick some ass. p.s. I actually could do this as I was practicing Muay-Thai, but I would leave such merit comments like "I bet you couldn't do it" to people of your caliber. Ralphy was PAID to look like martial artist and a girl could beat him up now or 30 years ago

@@veritasaequitas2386 wrong. The show just started with Johnny's perspective because its a unique take on revisiting the story but it was always going to circle back to Daniel. Without Daniel, Cobra Kai doesn't exist. You can do a Johnny series but you can't use the wealth of reference from the Karate Kid movies because they are Daniel's stories. Johnny doesn't have the villains roster, the history and background like Daniel does. Daniel IS the Karate Kid and no one can change that. I for one LOVE Daniel's growth this season. Daniel whether he's a jerk or being the moral compass is always the highlight of this show. Why do you think Zabka thanked Ralph in his speech at the MTV awards? Its because together they have built something that resonates with audiences who want the mix of nostalgia and new.
