Too bad Wisconsin didn't get a mention. That's where outboard boat motors were invented. There was Mercury and then there was Johnson before them. Both based in Wisconsin from the start. Imagine a 25HP motor, the largest possible boat motor at the time, where they had to 'crack the whip' for the skier to get the slalom ski up to speed to 'kick off' and make the barefoot move. That's how they figured it out back then, in Wisconsin. Wish I knew what year that was. -- A story from my Dad, telling a story about his Dad from way back then.
